We are to be an employer of choice too and believe that the key to our successis our people.What youll be doingIn order to help us realise our vision, were seeking a Head of Strategic Procurement to provide strategic procurement and commercial support for new build or S106 transactions as a member of the Design, Technical and Innovation team.As a key member of the Design, Technical and Innovation team, youll work alongside the wider Development and Asset Management businesses as well as other support functions to help ensure Clarions design and asset management requirements are defined andenshrined within key procurement agreements to support new-build, Joint Venture and S106 procurement routes.Youll liaise with the Asset Management team regarding the strategic procurement of core components and assets to support the planned investment programme and obtain best value for Clarions ongoing maintenance teams to enable the feedback of on-site knowledgeand apply continuous improvement techniques.Youll work closely with Clarions central procurement team to support strategies, which enable Clarion to:-

  • Being housing and service provider of choice
  • Build a successful, respected, and influential national business
  • Build new homes and successful communities
  • Maintain our financial resilience
What were looking forWere looking for procurement professionals with significant and demonstrable experience working with developers and/or main contractors in a senior procurement role, buying construction materials, components and services. Youll come to us with experiencein developing and directing procurement strategies with strong construction product, component and supplier knowledge. Strong stakeholder management skills, commercial awareness and negotiating skills are also essential for the role.Other key skills youll need:
  • Construction biased Procurement/Purchasing/Commercial/Project Management degree, or Technical background complimented by suitable commercial acumen.
  • Membership of a recognised professional body, relevant to the role.
  • Pre and post contract exposure, covering product procurement, material buying and component purchasing, supplier and contractor management.
  • Ability to prepare Whole Life Cost analyses and sinking fund assessments with an understanding of their formulation and their interrelationship with a whole life assessment.
  • Strong construction product, component and supplier knowledge including identification of value engineering opportunities.
Where youll workThis role is based from our Croydon office and you will be required to work between the office and home in line with business needs.
