Job Description

Job Title: ETCS Engineering Trainers x3Location: Crewe, CheshireSalary: £45,000Job type: Full timeThe RoleDid you know that rail is one of the safest and most eco-friendly means of transport, with one single freight train being able to carry enough materials to build 30 houses! Our services replace the equivalent of over 22 million truck movements every year,saving 7 million tonnes of carbon emissions!DB Cargo is on an ambitious journey to become Europes leading rail logistics provider with a long-term plan to shift traffic from roads, protect our climate and grow the economy.The RoleWe are currently recruiting for three Engineering Trainers to work on the exciting European Train Control System (ETCS) training activity for DB Cargo UK. The successful candidates will oversee ETCS Engineering training design, delivery and procurement ofengineering training for all Maintenance employees ensuring training is fit for purpose, cost effective and maintains employee competence to required levels.The post holders base location is negotiable, however they will need to be flexible in regards to travel to be able to fulfil the requirements of the project.General Duties/Key Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with ETCS Operational Training Manager to ensure training is fit for purpose and aligned with the project requirements.
  • Responsible to review, adapt, develop and approve ETCS Engineering course.
  • Collaborate with ETCS Engineering team in order to understand the project requirements.
  • Work in collaboration with the ETCS Training Coordinator to ensure the Engineering training schedule is well planned and rolled out as per project requirements.
  • Responsible to deliver ETCS Engineering training material as required and as per knowledge.
  • Work in collaboration with the ETCS Training Coordinator to ensure the LMS training records are maintained and are up-to-date.
  • Regularly check LMS to ensure ETCS training material being delivered is current. Remain up-to-date with changes in course content at industry level and adapt courses accordingly.
  • Ensure highest quality training delivery for internally delivered courses.
  • Design competence and assessment cycle for ETCS trained Engineers in collaboration with key engineering stakeholders.
  • Carry out ETCS Engineering assessments to check competence at end of training module(s) and periodically as required.
  • Ensure own competence is maintained in line with industry standards.
  • Be responsible for operating and programming the ETCS Maintenance training rigs and incorporate them into the training delivery. Ensure training rigs are maintained regularly.
  • Conduct/comply with internal/external training audits.
  • Ensure all internal ETCS Engineering training material meets DB Cargo UK L&D training and branding standards.
  • Ensure all ETCS Engineering training-related costs are controlled, documented and shared with the ETCS Finance Coordinator.
  • As required, travel to remote training locations.
Qualifications:
  • The successful candidates will have;
  • Experience of writing and delivering training courses.
  • Engineering subject-matter expert (ideally with freight train experience).
  • Understand of Learning and Development approaches to training. Familiar with training cycle (eg ADDIE process).
  • Experience of recording competence and planning competence assessments.
  • Stakeholder management experience.
  • Established general management skills, including financial and safety management.
  • A minimum of 5 years in a technical role, or HNC (in Engineering discipline) and a minimum of 8 years in an engineering/technical role (or working towards these qualifications)
  • Personal track safety certificate (including AC & DC electrified lines).
  • Competent in rules and regulations appropriate to the post.
  • BTEC qualification in Adult Learning and Education.
  • A full UK driving license and right to work in the UK without sponsorship.
