Job Description

Health & Ed are looking for Support Workers to work within Semi-Independent Unit based in Crawley, West SussexSalary: £33,120 (depending on qualification and experience)This is a permanent position - with hours typically including regular unsocial hours and sleep-ins (working 5-7 days shifts followed by 5-7 days off The right candidate should be able to encourage young people to develop their skills, participate in their interest and social opportunities within a safe and structured environment.What does the role involve

  • Working as a key worker to young people residing in the provision
  • You will be supporting vulnerable young people who have had a disadvantaged start in life
  • Ability to work with young people who present challenging behaviour i.e. mental health; issues with gang affiliation, CSE and supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs
  • You will be supporting young people with achieve outcomes to enhance their life choices and onward development to independent living
  • You will be safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
  • Daily duties with young people will include creating a safe and nurturing environment and help facilitate positive change by helping them deal with their past and prepare for the future
  • You will attend LAC reviews, case conferences and any other professional meetings
  • You will need to be able to complete daily records and write reports on behalf of young people and the home
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team setting
  • Ability to be flexible and approachable and able to prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Suitable candidates will have experience and/or knowledge in:
  • Children’s Act 1989 and 2004
  • Working within Children Home’s Regulations and Quality Standards
  • Understanding how to deal with challenging behaviour (i.e. EBD)
  • Understanding substance use/abuse
  • Key requirements
  • Essential: QCF Level 3 Residential Childcare or Children and Young People’s Workforce
  • An enhanced DBS Certificate - registered on the DBS Update Service
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with Young People 11-18 years within a Residential Children’s Home setting
  • Required skills
