Job Description

Crawley based organisation seek an experienced Group Management Accountant to join their existing team on an initial 6 month contract. This role will assistin the production and presentation of monthly consolidated group management accounts, includingfinancial results and Key Performance Indicators for the actual, forecast periods and annual operating plans andHalf Year and Year End accountsKey Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure that all monthly submissions are received from the Groups businesses, liaisingwith those companies requiring assistance or guidance
  • Review submissions, ensuring all reporting units in the Group (over 200) reconcile and resolve all reconciliation issues before results are communicated to senior management
  • Assist in the consolidation of the groups results and production of monthly and ad hoc reports, including the production of reports for different Group functions such as Group Risk, Tax, Supply Chain, Service Excellence and Regional Analysis Teams
  • Provide guidance to the financial controllers of the groups reporting units on all aspects of the data reconciliation and submission processes.
  • Work constantly on the administration, maintenance and development of the groups consolidation system (Cognos Controller) including setting up and deleting users, creating new accounts, changing the Group reporting structure, changes to access rights andall other tasks required to maintain the system up to date and fully functional
  • Analyse on a monthly basis, all postings into specific Cash Flow and Reserves accounts that require explanation and analyse the impact of foreign exchange differences
  • Collect all the necessary information from newly acquired businesses such as trading data, fair value adjustments and consideration details and all the required back up that supports all the acquisition accounting in each deal.
  • Prepare regular reports for National Statistics and other external stakeholders such as energy consumption consultants
  • Be the first point of contact for external auditors during the half year and year end audit for all questions related to acquisition reporting and central journals.
  • Assist the FCs of newly acquired companies to ensure their Management Accounts are reported on time, and as per the Group Policies.
  • Support the Regional Analysis teams in the understanding of the management reporting system.
  • Maintain the exchange rates in the consolidation system and publish the FX report on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure the Finance Intranet always contains the latest versions of the documents and files shared with the Finance community
Ideal candidate will have solid management accounts experience and be an advanced user of MS Excel, ideally with knowledge of VBA.Knowledge of IBM Cognos Controller an advantage, but not essential.Excellent communication skills, abilityto handle multipletasks, strong organisational skills, goodattention to detail and the abilityidentify process weaknesses is essential.Qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA preferer although experience is the key to this role.
