Job Description

The CompanyA leading Tyne and Wear based engineering company are now looking to grow their design team with the appointment of a Design Engineer with Ansys experience.The Role

  • 3D mechanical design and development across a range of projects, undertaking design calculations and working closely with internal departments.
  • Review and understand all relevant contract information and data from the Proposal Team.
  • Assist in determining the required execution strategy of the project taking account of project schedule.
  • Attend the project handover meeting and participate in a start-up meeting with the engineers assigned to the project from the Drawing Office and other engineering disciplines.
  • Ensure the completeness and on-time delivery of the Design scope of supply (i.e. calculations and documents) according to Contract requirements, Project requirements and all Engineering Office procedures and standards. This can apply to both new and existingproducts.
  • Monitor progress of allocated project activities within the Design Office scope of supply from a quality and time schedule point of view.
  • Initiate, implement and control corrective actions within the Design Office and report any schedule / cost / technical deviations.
  • Ensure feedback / lessons learnt from the project is communicated to the relevant Engineering parties or other disciplines within the organisation.
  • Participate actively in design reviews. Ensure that any allocated actions defined by the reviews are performed in a controlled manner, closed on time and regularly report on the status of the open action items.
  • Provide any pertinent construction information to the Project Engineer for inclusion in the Operation, Installation and Maintenance manuals and, on request, review and comment of the same.
  • Provide any pertinent input to the Quality Engineer for the preparation of the project-specific Inspection and Test Plans.
  • Assist with the preparation of any other engineering deliverable as is required to support other function.
The Person
  • A background in design is essential.
  • Ideally you will be degree qualified.
  • Experience of Ansys and AutoCAD within a design role.
  • Previous experience with offshore equipment would be advantageous.
  • You will have experience of working with cross functional teams.
  • You must have 3D design experience preferably with Inventor.
