The Company Our client is an innovative forward-thinking engineering and manufacturing company. Due to significant investment, they are now looking to recruit a Machine Development Lead.The Role

• This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Machine designer to join a growing organisation to lead their Machine development team, which is newly formed.
• As lead you will be responsible for managing the engineering team to develop latest technology Machine motors/generators for various applications.
• Your role directly impacts the onetime delivery of zero defective designs in collaboration with cross functional teams to deliver state-of-the-art motors to help achieve our vision of a sustainable future for all.
• Leading and growing the team thermal and Mechanical design engineers to complete the design of high-density, high-power Axial Flux and Radial flux Machines, with rich experience in EV electrical machine design.
• Owns level requirement specification derived from overall system level along with meeting the delivery timeline and quality as agreed.
• Collaborate with major stakeholders from various cross functional teams like validation, product, drives, systems, operations, manufacturing to arrive best Machines for specific application.
• Manage engineers and participate in development of best-in-class motors for various transportation application to meet the customer demand on cost and performance.
• Ensure personal and team compliance with core company values and consistently drive improvement while championing transparent collaboration with other key stakeholders in the business.
• Lead team to develop and oversee critical to quality specifications and testing to ensure motor quality is acceptable and maintained through life of the product.

The Person

• Masters University Degree in Electrical Machines / Drives / Power Electronics / automation / electrical / electro-mechanical or physical science or similar related field.
• Relevant experience in Machine Development and direct leadership.
• Good understanding of electrical motors advanced technologies, NVH and design methods, including electromagnetic design, fluid temperature rise and motor structure analysis, etc.
• Experience in the design of permanent magnet motors, including knowledge of soft and hard magnetic materials and their use in electrical machines.
• Fundamental understanding of mechanical, aero-acoustic and thermal aspects of electrical motor design.
• Have successful experience on high power high density automotive powertrain development and production.
• Have insights and opinions on the planning direction and competitiveness of electric motors; have a sense of responsibility and mission to make leading products.
• Electrical Machines / Power Electronics / automation / mechanical / electro-mechanical related, doctoral degree is a plus.
• Evidence of building/growing a team is definite asset.
• Hands on experience in advanced electrical machine (Axial flux machines/Radial flux machines) manufacturing techniques for mass production is a desired.
