Job Description

Adecco are delighted to be representing a prestigious client on an exciting and innovative engineering role. .Salary - £50,000+ AnnuallyReporting to the Automation Manager, the successful candidate will design frameworks, sub-assemblies, work-holding fixtures, and tools; these will be for special purpose machinery, robot cells and other equipment.They will also support the commissioning of machines and equipment, provide engineering input for concepts and prototypes, as well as design and perform test procedures to ensure that the process works before incorporation into the design.Duties:

  • To assume technical responsibility for the design of machinery where identified as the lead designer
  • To ensure all equipment is designed to function correctly, be cost effective, easy to manufacture, easy to build and easy to commission
  • To produce assembly drawings, detail drawings and parts lists that are clear and accurate and in line with the department standards
  • To liaise with suppliers to obtain best value for money and ensure delivery in line with the project requirements
  • To raise purchase requisitions and place purchase orders for manufacturing and for commercially available items
  • To ensure all machinery is supplied or modified in accordance with EC and UK regulations, harmonised standards, GAMP guidance and CMP standards
  • To liaise with controls and commissioning engineers
  • To support the build and commissioning of new machinery and modified machinery where necessary
  • To ensure that all machinery supplied or modified is safe and all machinery supplied is energy efficient
  • To ensure that machinery supplied does not cause environmental issues and the mechanical design aspects of projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • To ensure that you work in a safe manner and comply with the companys Health, Safety and Environmental Policy
  • To carry out any other duties not listed above as may reasonably be expected.
You Will Be:The successful candidate will ideally be qualified at degree level in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics, or they must be able to show a relevant mechanical engineering career path, primarily focused on special purpose machine build, design and commissioning.They must have a good working knowledge of special purpose machinery components including but not limited to; safety devices, electrical and pneumatic actuators, structural machine frames, machine guarding, sensing, motors, and transmission.They must have advanced 3D CAD experience modelling parts, frames, sheet metal and the subsequent building of complex assemblies from the modelled elements are essential. An understanding of configurations, design tables and experience with Solidworks wouldalso be beneficial but are not essential as is a good understanding of production best practice, design for manufacture and design for assembly general principlesThe successful candidate must be proficient with Microsoft word and excel and have a good understanding of the overall Microsoft office package.This position will be on a full time, permanent basis.
