Workshop ManagerCoventryThe Recruitment Bunker are recruiting exclusively for a Workshop Manager for a leading automotive company based in Coventry. As a Workshop Manager you will oversee the day-to-day business activities, ensuring the productivity levels remain high whilst customersatisfaction levels are exceeded.Overview of the Role: Workshop Manager Salary - £46,000 - £50,000 Holidays: 33 days (including statutory holidays) Location - CoventryOverviewOur client is regarded as the most experienced Land Rover & Range Rover tuning and modification specialist in the world, established in 1975, they offer a wide range of performance and styling enhancements for classic and modern examples, and prides themselveson their innovative approach to improving and updating vehicles, to better cope with the demands of todays road conditions. The companys reputation has been established through its work with Land Rover Defenders, Discoverys, and Range Rovers, although thesame techniques and expertise cross-over to other manufacturers.When it comes to engines, their expertise lie in working with the classic Rover V8 over four decades, which has allowed them to become a specialist in this field. Having developed special Rover V8 engines for the Paris-Dakar Rally, supplying the Works RangeRover team and later the Bowler Wildcat vehicles, proving competitive against teams with much larger budgets, they have never experienced an engine failure. Their huge experience has enabled the company to extend its capabilities to the Jaguar, Ford and RoushV8 units, as well as several more varied powerplants.This year, they are undertaking a revolutionary period of growth as they look towards increasing volume of production and re-launching th0e business worldwide. Our client is currently in the process of renovating their 10,000 square foot custom designedfacility in Coventry, complete with cutting edge manufacturing machinery and assembly areas, so that our master craftsmen can continue making the worlds best cars and car parts with the highest precision and quality at scale.Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the workshop capabilities, whilst empowering and motivating the Supervisor to manage and build the team of technical experts
  • Ensure Health and Safety compliance across the workshop including HR processes to be adhered too
  • Create and ensure project/build plans are in place and adhered too
  • Ensure the workshop meets the quality and brand standards by implementing quality checking process
  • Oversee the building of Land Rovers from the ground up, which include areas of engine and gearbox build
  • Stores - Ensuring planning process is in place in advance by liaising with the procurement and stores team (Lead times on parts supply)
  • Ensuring test drives and final signs offs meet the specifications, as per customer request and road legalities
  • Work with the team to develop the product for the future - i.e review new technology
Essential Skills
  • Experience of management within a workshop environment - preferably with JLR experience
  • Relevant experience and qualification within engineering or a relevant subject
  • Knowledge and understanding of quality management systems and processes
  • Build planning and scheduling experience
  • Clear work progression from mechanic onto managerial role
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage employees
  • IT literate - Word, Excel and PowerPoint at a high level
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Commercial awareness
  • Willingness to grow the business with aspirations to build the best Land Rover products worldwide within modified Land Rover marketplace.
