To name a few!Due to expansion, our client requires an experienced Transport Planner to join their established, friendly and experienced team in Meriden, Coventry.I am delighted to be working on an exclusive basis with a rapidly expanding national supplier of pallets, who are actively recruiting for a Transport Planner to support them on an interim basis.JOB PURPOSE:Working within the friendly and experienced team to carry out daily tasks such as planning deliveries and collections to our customers requirements, with a view to combining loads in the most efficient way possible to reduce costs.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Transport Planning

• To ensure that the most cost effective transport and efficient schedule is produced.
• Ensure deliveries and collections are completed on time and to requirements.
• To enforce our procedures with our transporters and monitor.
• To work proactively in developing business opportunities.
• To negotiate prices on new and existing transport lanes.
• To ensure that all transport costs are recorded and maintained on a regular basis.
• To ensure that we are meeting our customers requirements on transport and working towards continuous improvement.

Analysis & Reporting

• There is a requirement to be able to logically analyse, collate and process complex information in structured manner, drawing conclusions that enable the right decisions to be reached.
• To utilise regular performance reports to ensure the transporters meet all performance targets and KPIs.

General

• To maintain and re-enforce strong relationships with network partnerships
• To maintain positive professional working relationships with all business contacts in a problem-solving environment.
• To resolve issues in own area of remit
• To effectively undertake any other duties as requested by the Management Team.
• To build, manage and maintain strong inter-departmental relationships and communication within the organisation and work in partnership with other team members to deliver a high standard of service which promotes positive and continuing customer relationships.
• To maintain the highest standards of work and professionalism at all times.

Skills, knowledge, experience, qualifications required for job

• Experience within transport planning environment - backhaul would be advantageous.
• Good business acumen and commitment to support the operational & commercial performance of the business.
• Passionate and demanding about performance by suppliers.
• Strong communication & presentation skills, both verbal and written both internally and externally.
• Well organised and self-disciplined with ability to priorities work under pressure and work under own initiative.
• Able to build good working relationships across all levels both internally and externally.
• Able to demonstrate individual accountability.
• Ability to analyse and act upon data and information.
• Experience of using MS Office as well as bespoke internal software systems.
• Experience of using MS Power BI
