Job Description

Joining our team, you will play a vital role in building optimal transportation plans, driving efficiency, and minimising freight expenses, all whilst meeting customer expectations.You will be responsible for analysing driver data, optimising vehicle utilisation and maximising the use of our fleet – All with a goal to utilise our resources, minimise costs and deliver our promises to our customers.And, let’s not forget, you’ll be joining one of the UK’s largest and most recognised distribution brands, where career, personal development and going the ‘extra mile’ is at the heart of our company ethos.WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Analyse vehicle optimisation and assign loads to HGV capacity in compliance with H&S regulations
  • Re-plan loads when necessary due to delays, equipment failure or driver issues
  • Plan and implement initiatives to improve routing
  • Complete and resolve all outstanding load planning issues or pending concerns
  • Effectively communicate any issues or concerns to the Transport and Planning Team
  • Nurture business relationships and translate into required level of service
  • Develop processes and procedures in conjunction with the Transport Manager
  • Participate in regular meetings with the Transport team to highlight issues or changes to the operation
    • WHAT YOU NEED
    1. 2-3 years’ experience in Transportation Operations is desirable
    2. An understanding of transportation management systems
    3. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Including Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
    4. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
    5. Highly effective communication in the verbal and written form
    6. Must be a self-starter and highly motivated within a fast-paced environment
    7. Ability to manage multiple priorities and able to adapt to change with new systems and ways of working
    8. A clear understanding of rules and regulations around driver’s hours/working times is essential
    9. Solid local geographical knowledge of major trunking routes
    10. Full UK driving licence and ability to travel as and when required to multiple MDL sites
