As Transport Transition Manager you will lead the domestic and international transport transition work-stream for Project Mercia - the consolidation of a number of DCs into one central hub in Appleby Magna. Initially based at Unipart Baginton (Coventry)you will later move to Mercia Park, M42 junction 11.Transport Manager Responsibilities: Leading the BAU transport transition work stream for Project Mercia. Understanding existing DILO of with the view to look to re-design and improve into the new operation in doing so develop best practices. Attending reviews of current solutions and services with the existing team with a view to collaboratively identify opportunities to recommend alternate solutions and technologies. Working alongside customer and Unipart functions to design the freight/product transfer from in excess of 19 locations into one site. Through a collaborative RFP with the customer supporting the negotiations and managing the contracts, performance and relationships with 3rd party logistics providers and shipping / freight partners. Managing the transportation of stock through a multi-carrier solution - with clear processes to ensure safe delivery (on time/clean) and the integrity of stock movement. Support the solution design modelling of freight movement both inbound and outbound. Overseeing the compliant, safe and secure movement of products in and out of facilities in the UK and wider. With Mercia site operations - ensure there is a clear process for driver communication on arrival, on-site shunter movement between units including optimum yard layout, marshalling, parking, driver interactions and depart protocols. Ensuring 100% Customs compliance and provide guidance to business about the same as required. Minimising shipment costs whilst meeting specific customer needs, service and security expectations through optimal carrier loading (drop trailers/live load/arrival/booking slot/pallet orientation etc). Ensuring the transport solution is aligned to Unipart Logistics Safety policies, processes and procedures.Transport Manager Requirements: Extensive international and domestic multi-modal transport experience at scale. Existing relationships within the transport sector. Working knowledge of import/export declaration requirements: tariff; origin; valuation; CPC; etc. Experience and evidenced understanding of Incoterms. Experience of Customs compliance and working knowledge of current customs legislation. Experience of Known Consigner, C-TPAT and other Freight security measures. IT literate in Microsoft Office and Google packages. Experience of project based activity and new site set up (Desirable). Knowledge of Lean Methodology. Solution-oriented with a can do attitude. Able to support, motivate and coach staff to maximise individual and team performance. Proven verbal, written, mathematical and communication skills. Able to remain calm under pressure & deal with difficult customer conversations / internal stakeholder demands.
