Job Description

Evtec Automotive are an automotive manufacturerand aftermarket supplier to some of the UKs biggest car manufacturers including Ford and Jaguar Land Rover and we are looking for a Tooling Engineer to join the team.Summary of PositionReporting to the Senior Process & Tooling Engineer, the Tooling / Production Engineer is responsible for the effective management, development & implementation of new tooling. This will be achieved through close liaison with Project Engineers, sales & purchasingstaff to ensure controlled development within a cost effective and timely manner. They will also be responsible for providing a technical service aimed at assisting the manufacturing site to achieve objectives, cost effectiveness and productivity of the unitsby applying best Industrial and Production Engineering practices.Core Responsibilities

  • Drive optimisation and has significant impact on continuous improvement activities.
  • Facilitate CI meetings and ensure both CI boards and forms are updated reflecting the cost benefit.
  • Collaboration with production, quality and other engineering colleagues to ensure optimisation of equipment, including proposals for investment budget and participation in investment projects.
  • Support Site maintenance to ensure current tooling is in good working order, including being involved in any maintenance or renewal as required.
  • Works closely with the tool manufactures on design of tooling and fixturing ensuring best practice, quality and timely support to production.
  • Completes tooling sign off and introduction of new assembly stations, including support with training and WI preparation.
  • Conduct observation work studies; observation, synthetic, standard timings and recommend solutions to the manufacturing manager.
  • To continuously review and improve manufacturing processes, costs and plant utilisation.
Person Specification
  • Have a basic understanding of CAD software to be able to support the engineering team during times of absence within the department.
  • Has a basic mechanical engineering background and understanding of engineering principals, with a hands-on approach (electrical understanding advantageous)
  • Understanding of PLC logic and programming would be advantageous.
Key Business Priorities for Role (inc KPI and Targets)
  • Delivery of NPI projects on time, on budget and to required specifications. CI Improvements and cost savings identified/implemented
