Job Description

Our client has been established in their industry for over 30 years and due to continued positive referrals and business success, they will continue to grow into 2021 and beyond. Due to such growth, this supportive, collaborative, and ambitious organisation are now looking to recruit an experienced Duty Crime Solicitor to join their busy Crime Department. The purpose of this role is to manage your own caseload or criminal matters and assist the Head of Department in complex matters.This business can offer a culture that values people development and the enablement for careers to prosper in the long term, along with a competitive salary package and significant wider benefits.Please note: A full UK driving license and your own car is essential for this role as it requires travel between the firm office sites as required. Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake fee earning work for clients in the field of Criminal Law to deal with all aspects of criminal work.
  • Act as an advocate in court on a wide variety of cases.
  • Prepare cases for Crown Court and represent clients at police stations.
  • Responsible for the direct supervision of the Legal Secretary.
  • Always promote the firm in all areas.
  • Comply with all professional requirements as set by the Law Society.
  • Key Skills and Experience:
  • 3 years PQE experience as a Qualified Duty Criminal Solicitor OR a newly qualified solicitor will be considered.
  • Sound knowledge of Criminal Law.
  • Ability to manage a full case load.
  • Ability to motivate and supervise others.
  • Ability to promote the increase of the work inflow for yourself and others via a strong reputation and personal contacts.
  • Ability to work within the discipline of office targets, budgets, and billing requirements.
  • Higher Rights of Audience would be desirable.
  • Flexibility to work outside office hours, as necessary.
