Job Description

Coventry Job Description Role Title:Shift LeaderReporting To:Value Stream ManagerDirect Reports:Tech Team leaders & Team MembersRole Purpose:To lead all elements within the shift with a priority on employee safety, training, product quality and productive performance which requires a high level of shop floor engagement and challenging the norm. Shift Leaders should adopt a patrol and audit approachto ensure compliance within the work areas to drive Quality, Cost and Delivery. Managing employee issues including control plan adherence, training, communication, manpower planning, absence controls, performance management, employee development and employeerelations issues.Key Responsibilities· Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental standards are achieved and maintained· Responsible for Shift Emergency roll call· Ensure Quality standards are achieved through the delivery and enforcement of Control Plan· Responsibility for manufacturing process efficiencies - investigate, challenge and improve losses.· Responsibility for leading Problem Solving· Ensure high levels of housekeeping are maintained and audited weekly· Responsibility for employees performance and development quarterly team member reviews.· Responsibility for manufacturing process efficiencies· Report daily to Business Unit Manager on process performance· Recommend process improvement actions to Business Unit Manager· Ensure OAE is reported and visible and understood by section employees cube reviews· Supervise shift handovers all equipment is running at handover· Ensure daily and weekly team briefs are carried out· Attend supervisor meetings as required· Conduct audits as required including standard operations, quality, health and safety· Report and communicate end of shift documentation· Develop and implement departmental KPIsResponsibility for Problem Solving· Develop and communicate escalation processes for quality/machine/productivity issues· Liaise with Site Services where maintenance/repair actions are required completing relevant requisitions and ensure section PMs are completed in a timely manner· Monitor OAE for trends and implement corrective action as necessary· Facilitate group problem solving workshops· Analyze downtime data and put together action plans to resolveEnsure high levels of housekeeping are maintained· Ensure all employees are trained in 5s methodology and record on training Matrix· Perform 5s audits and lead corrective actions weekly for each area· Ensure section 5s performance is displayed on each areas cube· Ensure section Visual management boards are up to date and maintained (Cube)· Ensure employees are aware of Housekeeping SOP and allocate clean up tasks to employeesResponsibility for employees performance and development

  • Manage resources effectively to cover holidays/sickness/unexpected absence/Pay Backs
· Develop and implement job rotation plans· Support local performance appraisals and individual development· Ensure training matrices are kept up to date· Manage levels of overtime within the area· Monitor employee timekeeping and absence and conduct Return to Work interviews as appropriate· Conduct disciplinary investigations and hearings relating to employee conduct and capabilityEnsure Health, Safety and Environmental standards are achieved and maintained· Conduct section health & safety audits including guard checks· Monitor waste management and scrap levels· Manage emergency / security issues as required in the absence of the Value Stream Manager· Ensure fire evacuation is controlled and supervisor conducts role call for department of responsibility· Update fire registers daily and care with you at all times· Conduct STOP observations and implement any resulting actions· Conform to the requirements as set out in ISO 14001:2015 Environmental standard
