Job Description

About The RoleOur Data & Insight team require a Senior MI & Data Analyst who willlead complex projects and initiatives.These projects willdrive strategic decision-making and generate insights and value from the Societys data using business intelligence tools, technologies and techniques.Using your relationship building skills you will work closely with business functions to understand their challenges and opportunities, and then coordinate delivery of solutions in support of member outcomes and the Societys strategic plan.About YouExtensive experience in data modelling, with specialist expertise in Data analysis report building and some knowledge of data visualisation and storytelling through data.Essential:

  • Expert in writing freehand SQL against both normalised and de-normalised data warehouse structures (e.g. via Aginity)
  • Deep understanding of Kimball methodology
  • Data modelling software (e,g, Aginity Data Architect, Sparx EA)
  • Business Intelligence and ad hoc reporting Tools (ideally Cognos)
  • Data visualisation and dashboards (Cognos and/or more advanced tooling such as Tableau or PowerBI)
  • Communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex ideas simply and tell the story through data
  • Commercial awareness with ability to question and challenge and put forward new ideas
  • Stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and gain buy in through key working relationships
  • Knowledge of Excel
Desirable:
  • Strong presenting skills
  • Experience in coaching and development
  • Degree or equivalent in a numerate discipline
  • Knowledge of financial services and particularly the building society sector
