Job Description

Repairs Supervisor (Trades)£36,905 - £41,999 per annumCoventry / HybridPermanent, Full Time37 hours Monday to Friday between the hours of 08:00-18:00 in line with a rota pattern (8-4 / 10-6) plus Emergency Out of Hours rota (including weekends)Ourclients busy maintenance team carry out repairs on around 19,000 customer homes within the Coventry area. As Supervisor, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and supervision of around 12 experienced Trade Engineers and Contractors carryingout responsive domestic repairs in a social housing setting.In housing you can make a real difference, the role of Supervisor (Reactive) will involve:

  • Providing technical and practical support to a team of Trade Engineers
  • Motivating and promoting excellence by positively monitoring and managing performance, responding to feedback and encouraging positive behaviours
  • Carrying out Health and Safety audits
  • Delivering team meetings, toolbox talks, quarterly one-to-ones and annual performance reviews
  • Managing employee sickness absence, holiday requests, disciplinary, grievance, capability and conduct matters
  • Contributing to delivering value for money and identifying opportunities to reduce cost whilst maintaining specified standards of service
This role involves the requirement to participate in an out of hours emergency support rota (attracting additional payment).As Supervisor (Reactive) they need you to have:
  • Experience of staff management including performance, attendance and absence, conduct, disciplinary and grievance matters
  • Experience of dealing with customers and a commitment to delivering a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary to effectively work with customers, suppliers and subcontractors to deliver business objectives
  • Ability to manage priorities effectively.
  • A good level of IT literacy including the use of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Outlook, Excel and Word, and experience of working with dynamic scheduling and housing management systems (such as Active H or DRS/Opti-time)
  • Experience and knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and good practice in a repairs and maintenance setting
  • Driving licence

  • Relevant trade background OR qualified in a building related subject to HNC, City & Guilds or NVQ level
  • Experience of working within or with a social housing provider delivering maintenance and building services
  • Experience of undertaking detailed technical inspections of buildings and documenting findings
