Job Description

Job title: Powertrain Calibration Engineer Salary Range: £30.00 per hour (Inside IR35)Hours: 37.5-hour week Monday to Friday Location: Coventry, Warwickshire 6 month rolling contract working for a leading automotive manufacturing business A Powertrain Calibration Engineer is required to support the powertrain strategy to deliver conventional/ hybrid / electrification powertrains and related technology into passenger/commercial vehicles.The Powertrain Calibration Engineer will be part of the powertrain team and responsible for all Powertrain systems integration, troubleshooting, and calibration to deliver vehicle level fuel economy and performance as per targets.Due to new ongoing projects and workload this client based in Coventry requires an experienced, dynamic, leading Powertrain Calibration Engineer to undergo a 6-month rolling contract role. As a Powertrain Calibration Engineer, you will be required to:

  • Powertrain Calibration engineer would be responsible for all Powertrain and vehicle level test/troubleshooting/calibration to deliver vehicle level fuel economy and performance as per targets,
  • Performs engine and vehicle calibration and other relevant engineering project work within project team as required.
  • Support key person for meetings with Bosch/Delphi. Skilled in PC based application tools such as ETAS INCA, Keep data base of calibration developments.
  • To work alongside technology partners and pollinate analytical modelling know-how into the team’s tools and techniques procedures.
  • Support testing activities conducted by the Powertrain group in order to correlate analyses, including definition of instrumentation and test conditions.
  • Support development of vehicle targets, DVPs, DFMEAs, issues tracking documents and programme status documents.
    • The Powertrain Calibration Engineer should have the following skills or experience:
  • Experience in Powertrain systems calibration development, OBD calibration, engine calibration or transmission calibration
  • Experience with ETAS INCA, Matlab or equivalent advanced data acquisition systems
  • Relevant experience with engine management and data acquisition systems
  • Experience within automotive vehicle manufacturer, preferably with experience of calibration of gasoline engines,
  • Recent direct experience of application of new technologies
  • Its expected that the candidate will have good knowledge of Internal Combustion Engines and/or Engine Control software
  • Preferable exposure to ID CAE and CAD
  • Energy conversion systems knowledge including engines and systems related to engines, such as after treatment systems, air handling systems, fuel systems, and filtration systems.
  • Good working knowledge of Bosch EMS and ETAS INCA toolset. MATLAB experience desirable
  • Experience of delivering powertrain/vehicle integration projects.
