Job Description

Background: Formed in 2002, our client is an award-winning, national traffic managment provider with over 30 depots strategically located across England and Wales, providing an extensive range of services across the traffic management spectrum. This SME has gone througha rapid period of growth and continues to expand its portfolio of depots. As a result of that growth journey, the business has identified the need for a new position within the business, a National Sales Manager.This is a truly fantastic opportunity to play an integral role in driving the business forward by taking full accountability and ownership of the companys sales function including systems, processes, people, culture, and growth. You will be working closelywith the Commercial Director, easing some of the workload whilst still having the autonomy to make decisions. Within the business, there is a fast-paced, hard-working, team-orientated environment, typical of an SME, and we are seeking an individual who isagile, collaborative, and dynamic who can win hearts and minds both internally and externally.This is a real blank slate opportunity in which the incumbent will be given the freedom and support to make it their own.The Opportunity:Reporting into the Commercial Director, the newly appointed National Sales Manager will lead the sales team based nationally across their network of depots driving growth and maximising opportunities within the key accounts. Currently a team of four thereis investment to expand the team to eight, so it is vital that this individual is adept at recruiting, leading, and motivating a team of Regional BDMs. Also important to the success of this role will be the professionalisation of the systems and processeswhich will therefore underpin the growth potential of the business.The Requirement:Working alongside the Commercial Director, you will also be responsible for the design and implementation of the national sales strategy and will drive a sales culture within the team. This person will take a hands-on approach, in the field, coaching andmentoring the sales team. In addition, you will implement a management structure and formalise processes. You will also proactively build relationships with external stakeholders and engage with colleagues across all aspects of the business.The Candidate:

  • A proven and successful background in the management of a sales team is essential. Desirable experience in a similar role in the services industry or relevant B2B background such as rental, plant, capital equipment, construction, waste managemetn, civilsand/or contracting.
  • Able to lead and take a holistic view of the business whilst also being detail orientated. Looks for and implements ways to make significant improvements across the business.
  • A highly commercial, sales management professional. Challenges and adapts processes and practices to make them more effective and add the greatest commercial value.
  • Recognise the importance of effective teamwork and collaboration within the SME environment by taking time to get to know the individual team members, understanding the value that they have to offer, and the level of support required.
  • Proven people management skills demonstrating clear and focused leadership. Motivates and inspires others, uses coaching effectively to get the best from the team.
  • Drives productivity and performance. Understand how to set a strategy whilst remaining hands on at the same time (able to "yoyo" between strategy and operational detail/activity).
