Locum Consultant Urological SurgeonUniversity Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is looking to recruit a full time Locum Consultant Urological Surgeon with a specialist interest in General Urology. UHCW NHS Trust is one of the leading teaching hospitals in the UK and is the home of Warwick Medical School, providing wide ranging opportunities to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research. It is housed in a large scale PFI building, opened in 2007, and provides state of the art facilities for the delivery of medical care. The trust provides local services to a population of 450,000 in the Coventry and Rugby area, and receives tertiary referrals from a population of around 1 million across Warwickshire and Worcestershire. The successful candidate will join a forward-thinking and dynamic team of nine consultants and will actively provide and support the further development of first class Urology services for the Trust, working in collaboration with clinical colleagues in all disciplines to provide an integrated service for patients. The service delivers over 16,500 outpatient appointments (2,500 with procedures) and 3,500 elective admissions per year. The unit is the cancer centre for the Arden Cancer Network and one of 23 Major Trauma Centres in England. Teaching and research is an integral part of the unit with junior doctors, medical students and higher degrees.The department has active research collaborations with the University of Warwick Departments of Engineering (Professor James Covington), Clinical Imaging (Professor Charles Hutchinson) and Clinical Trials Unit (Professor Janet Dunn and Professor Nick James). It has a Da Vinci robot and template biopsy service capable of MRI-USS fusion. Coventry is one of England’s great cities set in the beautiful surroundings of Warwickshire in the heart of England. The area provides plenty of variety in places to live, including city centre apartments, pleasant suburban streets, picturesque villages and lively market towns.
