Job Description

Legal Secretary Location: CoventrySalary: £19,500 to £23,000 per annumHours: Monday-Friday 9.00 am to 5.15 pmOur client is a long-established firm of solicitors based in Coventry offering a range of legal services for individuals and businesses.The RoleThe role of Probate/Private Client Legal Secretary will include providing secretarial and administrative support to a Solicitor within the Department.The successful candidate must possess a good telephone manner and have excellent communication skills. They must be accurate and pay attention to detail. They will be obliged to gain a working knowledge of Grants of Probate, Letters of Administration andIntestacy. They will also be obliged to familiarise themselves with all aspects of Deputyship matters and in particular processes and procedures dictated by the Court of Protection.They will be obliged to conduct themselves at all times in accordance with the Lexcel Standard and to maintain confidentiality.Key Responsibilities

  • Producing documentation from Digital Dictation
  • Typing amongst other things Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney
  • Producing Estate and Distribution Accounts using Excel
  • Attending upon clients in person and over the telephone
  • Maintaining files to the Lexcel Standard
  • Completing basic forms required for file opening
  • Identifying and recording key dates
  • Filing
  • Assisting the person to whom they are responsible and working as part of a team
  • Maintaining a diary system
  • Preparing Bills
  • Archiving files
Skills & Qualifications Successful candidates should possess the equivalent of GCSE grade A – C in Mathematics and English.You must be computer literate, possess keyboard skills, have a working knowledge of Word and Excel and have an ability to type at 50-70 wpm.Candidates must be able to work with minimal supervision, be able to manage their own workload, work as part of a team and respond to the unexpected.Previous experience is not essential as training will be provided where necessary.The firm is dedicated to training and development.
