Job Description

Our beliefin people and what they can achieve.Your role at Orbit.We have a fantastic opportunity here at Orbit for an IT Lead Data Developer we hare looking for someone who is experienced in SQL to act as a subject matter expert to the data developers. You will promote best practices in ways of working and developingcode and the use of latest technologies. You will need to improve efficiencies, lower costs, have a right first time approach and make solutions robust and easier to support. You will also need to provide information and reporting solutions to SMT.You will be responsible for:

  • Working with the data developers to ensure coding standard practices are adhered to and documents.
  • Promoting adoption of new technologies to simplify processes and solutions
  • Ensuring Orbit data security and information governance policies are adhered to throughout the development lifecycle
  • Working with the business to develop and support its reporting requirements
  • Subject matter expert in SQL Server technologies (SQL, SSIS, SSRS)
  • Subject matter in development practices including: Azure, Devops, source control (TVFS, GiT)
  • Utilising and promoting the use of Azure technologies within business solutions, such as SQL VMs, Azure SQL Databases, Key Vaults, Data Factory, Synapse
  • Maintaining documentation for technical specification and procedures, working with Devops
  • Supporting the team in the development of ActiveH workflows to ensure quality, consistency and efficiency
  • Supporting the team to deliver data integrations between Orbit and third-party organisations
  • Supporting implementation and testing of new software and upgrades
  • Undertake the role of 3rd line support on problems and queries
What will help you make a difference.To be successful in this role of Lead Data Developer you will need to have experience in Microsoft operating systems and applications, you will need to have a high level of experience in report writing tools and practices, Database Architecture and Design,SQL Stored Procedures, SSIS, SSRS, Reporting Development Tools.It is also essential that you have:
  • High level of Software development lifecycle practices
  • Ability to analyse and document complex business processes
  • Experience interacting directly with end users for both projects and day to day work
  • Prioritise multiple tasks effectively and successfully engage in multiple initiatives
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
It would also be desirable if you have:
  • Azure Data Lake, Data Factory and Synapse Technology
  • Power BI
  • Experience of Housing sector software (ActiveH)
