Key Objectives & ResponsibilitiesWere adamant that meticulous planning and monitoring is fundamental to successfully delivering our innovative products to market.Solid-line reporting to the Head of Vehicle Line, youll be embedded the Vehicle Development team in order to support them in the planning and delivery of their work. Youll work closely with the Chief Engineer and Principal Engineers in the team and youllstay closely linked with the Function Group Programme Managers (FGPMs) within the Chassis, Electrical, EPS, Exteriors, Interiors & Structures teams so that activities are aligned to overall vehicle delivery.By co-ordinating activities between the different teams in R&D (and, where required, with other stakeholders such as Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality and Finance), youll assume responsibility for planning a successful Vehicle Development programme. Mainactivities will be as follows:Vehicle and Test Commodity PlanningEnsuring there is a clear set of fleet requirements to deliver the Vehicle Development plan (in liaison with Principal Engineers, Pre-Production Build PM and FGPMs)Ensuring clear planning and parts requirements for all bucks, rigs etc required to support in-house testing programmeExpedition planningCo-ordination of expedition requirements and accommodation of key expeditions in overall planningTravel, vehicle shipping, facilities booking, Carnets etcDevelopment and attribute activity planning. Taking input from the Principal engineers, youll oversee;Coordination of Development plans and input into High Level Timing Plan (HLTP)Consolidation of development facility requirementsAgreement of a clear Certification and Homologation plan that is coherent with the high level timing planBudget ManagementAdministration of Vehicle Development budget. Youll need to adapt our current tracking tools to the specific needs of Vehicle Development. This is a significant task, requiring monitoring of committed, consumed and forecast spend in addition to raising andgaining approval for all external spendIssues managementIssues reporting - collaborate with Pre-Production Build PM on vehicle issuesIssues intake meeting chairing for development related issuesAcademic RequirementsYoull be degree-qualified (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years relevant automotive experience. Experience of programme management and delivery in full vehicle build & development is a prerequisite, but perhaps in combination with PM responsibilities inother areas of specialism. Your ability to understand the timing interdependencies between the various vehicle development activities is paramount. Youll be familiar with cost tracking and budgeting methodology, with a diligent and methodical approach. Aboveall, youll excel in forming strong working relationships with people across the organisation.
