Job Description

We are actively looking to recruit skilled and experienced customs compliance candidates for an exciting role as a Director of Customs Compliance in Coventry (working on a hybrid basis).Client DetailsOur client is an independently owned leader within the customs, freight and logistics field. They have an outstanding reputation for delivering excellence within the International Logistics Industry. They are experts in customs clearance, freight forwarding,logistics and supply chain management, delivering award-winning E-commerce Solutions, & Value-Added Freight Forwarding services. As a result, we are currently looking to appoint a new UK Director of Customs Compliance based on a hybrid basis from Coventry.DescriptionAs a Director of Customs Compliance, you will report into the European Custom & Tax Vice-President on a daily basis. You will also have the following roles & responsibilities:

  • To deliver the full strategic and operational management and continuous development of our Customs Products across road, air & sea freight.
  • Managing a team of circa 70 employees across a full UK customs operation.
  • Managing the groups Customs product whilst looking at continuous ways to develop and improve our processes.
  • Continuous maintenance and auditing when required of our IRP, ORP, CFSP, ETSF, and NCTS products, plus our Port/Airport customs badges.
  • Maintaining our AEO accreditation by working with all branches and continuous monitoring to ensure the group is aligned with HMRC expectations.
  • Ensure the business is up to date with the latest Customs processes & any upcoming changes and this is reported back to the business
  • Provide CDS guidance and support to company branches.
  • Being available for any questions/queries HMRC could have in regards to the groups AEO, CDS and other Customs topics.
  • Assist management team with potential new Projects which involve HMRC tasks, setting up new bonded warehouses etc.
  • Other key tasks expected when maintaining AEO accreditation across all branches.
  • Process and Policy documents are complete, communicated to staff and managed accordingly.
  • Ensuring all branches are Customs compliant and up to date with the latest Customs rules & regulations
ProfileThe successful Director of Customs Compliance will have a strong background in freight forwarding and customs. They will ideally be a market leader in their field. You will also have the following skills an experience:
  • Strategic operational experience of customs and customs compliance
  • Working knowledge of AEO accreditation
  • Experience of managing and leading teams of customs entry agents and compliance specialists
  • Working knowledge of IRP, ORP, CSFP and ETSF clearances.
  • Commutable to Coventry, one day per week, with the ability to work on a hybrid basis thereafter.
