Job Description

If youre an experienced Data Analyst and you want to knowwhat its like to work for a top employer that is working hard to make the world a better home; then please read on to find out more about this exciting opportunity to join us as a Data Analyst.As a Data Analyst you will provide the business with advanced analytical capabilities on a project basis, act as an entrepreneur in identifying inefficiencies with your curious mind-set, and design business solutions to aid tackling problems while sharingbest practice.Working as an integral part of the Analytics team and in conjunction with the entire Data team, the role primary focusses on exploratory discovery analysis to understand why something is happening and how we can tackle this. You will clean and manipulatedata, and employ analytical models and statistical methods to generate valuable insight based on the analytical recommendations, as well as present results from analysis in a clear and actionable way to project stakeholders and management, therefore communicationis key. Assisting with the successful delivery of data science projects by measuring success of models and suggest relevant improvements. Finally, a small amount of the job requires passing on your expertise to the wider business to aid improving efficiencyand showcasing how amazing our team is.Youll be working for Saint Gobain and can be located anywhere as long as you can travel for monthly & ad hoc meetings usually located in Newbury, Coventry and Huddersfield.The RoleOur Data Analysts are really important to our success and a critical part of our customers positive experience with us. In this role you will;

  • Lead meetings with internal customers to identify data analytics needs and scope projects including small scale statistical analyses, descriptive analytical projects.
  • Establish project strategy in collaboration with internal resources (data analyst, data scientist, data engineer). This includes participating in the definition of the requirements in terms of data format and structure, and identifying the relevant statisticaltools and techniques building on guidance from Lead Data Analyst / Lead Data Scientist.
  • Clean and manipulate data, and employing analytical models and statistical methods to generate valuable insight based on the analytical / data science project leads recommendations.
  • Present results from analysis in a clear and actionable way with tangible recommendations to project stakeholders and management.
  • Participate in automation projects for measurement, and assist Lead Data Scientist / Data Scientist with project delivery when necessary.
  • Operate in an agile and innovative team with flexible working conditions, share knowledge openly and have a very collaborative spirit, even while working remotely.
  • Be an active support of the development of data analytics within Saint-Gobain through completion of successful projects with a measurable added value, sharing of results with a large audience, being an active member of Saint-Gobain worldwide data analyticscommunity (participation in tech days, sharing of best practices). Participate in organised training programs, and ultimately feel responsible for self-learning / development.
RequirementsFirst and foremost, we always want to recruit talented people that align well with our values and way of working.For this role in particular we are looking for someone with the following skills/ experience:
  • Demonstrated technical excellence in basic statistics, and data analytics especially with regards to descriptive statistics to identify the key problem/opportunity and drivers.
  • Demonstrated experience in Excel is essential, as well as experience with programming languages such as R / Python / SQL.
  • Proven experience in designing, creating and publishing PowerBI dashboards
  • Strong team player with strong collaboration and creative thinking skills, and a desire to "make a difference" focusing on an open and honest customer centric attitude
  • Accuracy and validation of work with a clear focus on attention to detail
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to see the bigger picture scenario, and understand the commercial implications of analytical projects with tangible recommendations from your critical thinking mind-set
  • Proven ability to work and deliver results under pressure with effective time management through handling multiple projects from start to finish
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and electronically, with the ability to develop relationships with others. Fluently translate technical findings to a non-data audience at differing levels of seniority through a variety of methods such as presentationsand dashboards.
  • Work collaboratively with other analysts to assure consistency in code building, outputs and build upon the culture of knowledge sharing to aid learning & development
Desirable:
  • Experience in design of experiments, inferential statistics, regression analysis, statistical modelling is a strong plus.
  • BA / BSc in a STEM field, or any other highly numerical degree
