Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, we are looking to recruit a Band 7 Clinical Scientist to support the Virology & Molecular Pathology (VAMP) service. The department provides viral serology and multidisciplinary molecular investigations for 4 acute hospitals, 9 clinical commissioning groups and over 250 GP practices. This post will also work closely with other Trust disciplines and with both Warwick University and Coventry University’s Research staff to translate tests from initial review through to diagnostic provision.Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Service (CWPS) is an established network, currently in the process of developing a blood sciences hub and spoke model of care. VAMP is part of this transformation and as such, staff will need to rotate across sites and be required to participate in the 24/7 service. Working with our university partnerships, we have been able to create a specific 24/7 Covid 19 testing facility at the UHCW site. Specialist molecular testing will also primarily be located at UHCW; whilst routine serology will be based on the hub site at George Eliot Hospital. Following a successful tender process, equipment will be updated on each of the sites within the next 12 months. We offer the opportunity to participate in the ongoing transformation of the service and encourage staff to bring forward ideas for improvement. Successful candidates will be required to provide both clinical and laboratory based duties, including undertaking more specialised tasks such as new test validation, audit review, management of laboratory targets and production and assessment of quality documentation to ISO 15189 standard. They will be patient focused, willing to work across sites, have experience of supervising staff and operational workflow and be innovative in their approach to help promote and progress CWPS services. They must be adaptive to the ongoing changes and be wiling to work flexibly within a demanding, yet rewarding environment.******Closing Date:This job advert will close as soon as sufficient applications have been received.
