Ref: 36959Title:Capital Equipment Category BuyerDivision:PurchasingContract Position based at: WhitleyDuration: 4 MonthsRates: up to £29.69/hr Ltd (c. £23.00/hr PAYE)Position Description:A Category Buyer role leading procurement of specified categories within the Capital Equipment team in Non-Production Purchasing (NPP). The role has a dual aspect in that it will be responsible for:- the establishment of service and raw material contracts in support of the expansion of a Manufacturing Engineering Workshop/Toolroom- the delivery of projects across multiple plants and vehicle programsThe position has an interface with a variety of functions, such as Manufacturing Engineering Workshop (MEW), Manufacturing Engineering (ME), Vehicle Programmes and Finance. As Capital Equipment Category Buyer, the role involves robust sourcing in-line withthe Non-Production Purchasing 8-Step Category Management Process and will be primarily focused on sourcing, contract negotiation and contract implementation and management. This role is fundamental in supporting our key stakeholder ME and their New Endingsvision.The aim is for ME to become more self-sufficient and bring in-house design, manufacture, installation and commissioning responsibility. Firstly, this will drive a need to increase the capacity and capability of the MEW and the role will need to source services/rawmaterials in support of this facility. Secondly, there will be a need to explore cost opportunities associated with suppliers providing a turnkey solution vs multiple suppliers supplier elements/sub-packages of that solution, this will drive more workloadinto NPP. In support of this role the buyer will need to work collaboratively with the stakeholder to identify the correct sourcing packages and qualifying suitable suppliers, in order to achieve maximum commercial leverage and ultimately optimise the overallcost.Essential Skills and Experience:
