For this role in particular we are looking for someone with the following skill set;

  • Previous experience in an Assistant Category Manager level role or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in negotiating, influencing and analysis.
  • Demonstrable commercial awareness and good business acumen.
  • Good communication, influencing, presentation skills.
  • IT literate in appropriate Microsoft and database systems.
  • Ability to work on own or as part of a team.
  • Able to manage workload and work to tight deadlines.
  • Able to work under pressure and manage multiple simultaneous priorities.
  • Good numerical and analytical skills with ability to assimilate information.
  • Resilient and able to constructively challenge and influence.
  • Driving licence (travel and overnight stays are required)
  • Understanding of broader Jewson business model and structure (desirable)
  • Ownership of internal customer queries and enquiries to point of resolution.
  • Understanding of the urgency of internal customer requirements.
What will I be doing in the roleOur Assistant Category Manager will be vital to our success, the role will provide day-to-day support of Category activity, provide first line support to internal customers, namely branch and sales colleagues and act as secondary contact for suppliers wherenecessary.In this role you will;
  • Managing some sub categories within the kitchens category.
  • Support the Line Manager to deliver assigned category plans to increase the business profits.
  • Assisting with the management of pricing.
  • Responsibility for small supply base within the category including leading negotiations on trading agreements.
  • Managing suppliers and interactions appropriately.
  • Planning of promotional activity.
  • Review category performance, identifying areas of concern/opportunity and taking appropriate action as agreed with Category Manager.
