Job Description

RS Components are currently seeking an experienced Data Architect for an exciting new position that has just arisen within the company. Previous experience with Data Cataloguing and Modelling is essential.Location: Work from Home (Base location in Corby, Northants)£Salary + Bonus + BenefitsHours of Work: Monday to Friday, 9am - 5.30pm This role is working within a team that is key to getting the right data design from the onset for initiatives across our business. The role will also be key in incorporating additional data sources and designing new data structures in the data ecosystem.As our maturity in the data space evolves, this role will also be helping to lead the charge in designing and developing data products for us to monetise.Key AccountabilitiesCreating architectures for Data Warehouse, Master/Reference Data, and Integration for data processing

  • Creating conceptual, logical, and physical data models for analytics and, where applicable, operational data structures in accordance to industry best practices
  • Supporting PoCs from design to implementation
  • Ensuring that accurate traceability and lineage is documented
  • Developing great working relationships and communication channels with the relevant departments
Scope of the RoleThis role reports to the Lead Senior Data Architect and will take responsibility for providing data architecture and integration designs for initiatives across the business. This will include creating and maintaining the design artefacts and documentation.The role will also be working within the team to help drive forward the data ecosystem and developing data products to be monetized.Key StakeholdersThe primary internal stakeholders that this role will be interacting with are data engineers, subject matter experts for each data set, and Digital, Data & Technology customers. These stakeholders may be at all levels within the business. This role willalso have external stakeholders that may be either data consumers, data sources, or both for RS.We are looking for:At least 2 years of experience in Cloud technologies like AWS, MS Azure, Google BigQuery, Bluemix
  • Experience with any of Cloudera, Horton Works, MapR stack
  • Data modelling experience (conceptual, logical, physical)
  • Knowledge of Big Data solutions including Hadoop, Spark and open source technologies
  • Experience of working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured information
  • A strong knowledge of data flows, data analysis, and data profiling
  • Experience of transforming traditional Data Warehousing approaches to Big Data based approaches
  • Strong SQL and NoSQL skills, data management knowledge and expertise in data architecture
  • Passionate about data

Desirable
  • University degree 2.1 or higher (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Statistics or equivalent
  • Hands on heavily SQL technical background, possibly DBA or data development
  • Exposure to service orientated applications including RESTful APIs
  • Exposure to Agile methodology
  • Exposure to Graph database solutions
  • Cloud certified (eg AWS)
