Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Head of Compliance (or exceptional Senior Compliance Manager) to join our team in the consumer credit broking & mortgage intermediary space.You will be working within the leadership team reporting to the Managing Director responsible for establishing standards and implementing procedures to ensure that Compliance programs throughout the business are effective and efficient to meet with our applicableregulations and laws.Our company is one of the UKs leading (and award winning!) consumer credit brokers who offer digital loan brokerage and aggregation services. Weve developed a range of innovative bespoke services that ensure our lender partners are able to acquire customersthat fit their risk appetite. We also have a mortgage intermediary division looking after customers providing advice for all types of needs including residential mortgages, bridging loans and second charges. In this area we are looking to digitize and automateparts of the intermediary process to improve customer journeys.Our ideal fit would be a forward thinking fintech minded compliance individual to lead the department and embrace the initiatives that were seeking to build, ideally someone who wants to get stuck in and make a difference. This is a fantastic opportunity to innovate, influence, inspire and grow within the business!Key Accountabilities and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and improve our compliance strategy and infrastructure including:

  • Develop and deliver upon ongoing quality assurance testing through the Companys Annual Compliance Plan
  • Close engagement with product, design and approval processes (new and BAU) to ensure FinProm compliance and maintain complaint collateral.
  • Deploy effective operational risk monitoring and where possible seek to automate in the future
  • Ensure Company adheres to relevant Data Protection/GDPR requirements and ensures robust data privacy and security for its customers.
  • Fostering good conduct risk and culture in respect of customer outcomes
  • Compile accurate reports such as KPIs/KRIs and provide monthly firm compliance reports to the Management Team
  • Oversight and management of SMCR throughout the business ensuring accountability and responsibility for relevant staff.
  • Manage and develop the Training and Competence program for mortgage advisers
  • Ensure advice provided to customers meets relevant advice and sales standards
  • Management of firm policies, draft and revision according to a policy schedule
  • Complaints handling, management and RCA
  • Financial Promotions review and approval for all our customer facings assets
  • Monitoring the regulatory climate and specific FCA guidance, keeping senior management informed of regulatory changes, intelligence and ensure appropriate changes are made
  • Oversight of all FCA regulatory reporting working with the MD
  • Develop and deploy the Risk Management Framework & Strategy working closely with key business functions
  • Review customer activity MI in respect of quality, KPIs, vulnerable customers, complaints and overall customer outcomes
  • Conflicts, breaches, incidents management and reporting to regulators as required.
  • Oversight and management of all third parties, vendors and introducers in line with the Companys outsourcing and introducer management schedule
  • Management of AML and fraud risks in the business
  • Own and manage mandatory regulatory compliance & risk training across the business
  • Oversight and management of FCA SMF approvals, notifications and permissions via Connect
  • Support due diligence processes with vendors and partners
  • Undertake projects, as and when required to support the needs of the business or achieve functional objectives
Essential skills
  • At least three years experience working within senior mortgage and/or first charge related compliance roles (lender or intermediary)
  • Operating at or towards SMF16 level
  • Strong ability to translate complex regulations into practical policies and advice to the business in ways that keep the business engaged, informed and understanding of requirements.
  • You are comfortable providing strategic direction at a senior level whilst retaining a key eye for technical rigour and detail.
  • Strong experience working with and managing conduct risk and TCF.
  • Very self-motivated and have a willingness to take responsibility and work independently, as a key member of the broader team, working within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong regulatory experience and knowledge in relation to intermediary management with a clear understanding of mortgage advice/ MCOB and a rounded understanding of CONC FinProms.
  • Willingness and aptitude to challenge the business to ensure regulatory compliance is met with a strong conduct and culture steer
  • Adapting to a dynamic and fast-moving environment with rapid technological change, recognising and mitigating operational and conduct risks
  • Knowledge of risk management measures, controls and related operational issues
  • Excellent stakeholder management and organisational skills with strong working knowledge of Microsoft office suite.

  • Highly motivated with a proven ability to work on multiple work streams on own initiative
  • Good awareness and understanding of information security and data storage solutions
