Senior Adult Support Worker- Maternity coverJob Title: Senior Adult Support Worker - Maternity CoverSalary: £22,321Location: The Shires, Colsterworth, Nr Grantham.Hours: 40+Contract: PermanentAbout the SchoolThe Shires consists of four sites all within a 15 minute drive of one another. It is a Special Educational Needs (SEN) School and Residential home within the Acorn Care and Education and NFA Group - the UK’s Largest, Independent Children’s Services group. We cater for young people aged 11-19 and adults 18+ who have been diagnosed with Autism and may have accompanying learning disabilities.The main aim of The Shires is to provide young people and adults enough guidance and support to unlock each person’s potential. We want all the service uses to be as independent as possible and to be happy, comfortable and safe. You will join the supportive and friendly team within the Post 19 provision. This is based within a beautiful Edwardian House in Colsterworth, Nr Grantham. It provides residential care for adults with severe Autism, learning disabilities and challenging behaviours.We want each adult at The Shires to achieve their own ambitions, live fulfilling and productive lives and have an active part in the community. Therefore, you will be required to work from 08:00 - 21:00 on a four day on, four day off, rota. During these hours you will be required to assist with any problems or personal care needs the Adults have. This will include being responsible for safeguarding ensuring they are all safe, comfortable and healthy.Other duties include assisting with outings or further education, liaising with other staff, working to agreed care plans and keeping the homes clean.Who are we looking forThe Shires need a responsible, friendly and caring individuals who have a passion for caring for and ultimately, making a difference to Adults lives. This vacancy will cover maternity leave from May 2020- May 2021. It will be a challenging yet rewarding role with the opportunity to see the Adults grow and develop over time.As a Support Worker Level 4, you will need to be a qualified support worker with relatable experience. Ideally you will have experience leading and motivating a team and will be happy to complete reports. We also need someone who can work well within a team, has great communication skills, can manage their workload and be prepared for the varying difficulties the role may present.Key responsibilities

  • Safeguard all adults within the home and support them with their individual needs
  • Attend to all the needs of the Adults
  • Support and develop the mental and physical health and wellbeing of individuals within the service
  • Help integrate the adults into the community
  • Help improve the standard of living and confidence of adult
  • Integrate into the supportive team
  • Liaise with other staff with the best interests of the adults in mind
  • Be prepared in the case of a fire and act appropriately
