The Surgical Outpatient Department delivers a high standard of patient care, minor procedures and interventions. The specialties included are General Surgery, Colorectal, Breast, Vascular, Upper GI and Urology. We see patients from initial consultation through consultations ahead of treatment and follow up appointments after discharge.The Breast services have one stop clinics where patients have on the day imaging and diagnosis working alongside the Breast Care Nurses and Breast Imaging department to provide a holistic service.The Urology clinics include the One Stop Service for all new patients where investigations and minor procedures are carried out in the clinics and patients are given a diagnose and plan of care on the day where required and are seen by the Uro-Oncology team.In the vascular clinics we undertake simple to complex dressings and wound management, implementing plans of care with the vascular specialist team, podiatrist and patient. Encouraging the patient to be involved in their own care pathway is upmost to the service we offer.We also undertake various other interventions to include, Urodynamics , Anoscopy for rectal cancer screening, Vascular Emergency for admission avoidance.We have nurse lead services for Urology and offer a Pre-Operative Assessment for patients who are listed for surgery.The Job Description, which includes a Person Specification, provides a full outline of responsibilities and requirements for this role.
