Job Description

Freightserve are looking to recruit a Operations Shift Manager. The company are a well established Courier company based in the Colnbrook area.MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To ensure all areas of Health and Safety is being followed and carried out by all staff in operations, and ensuring all areas being worked in on a daily basis internally and externally, meaning the front of the company building and front yard. All documentation relating to Health and Safety must be handed to company Health and Safety officer each week and checks must be carried out to ensure health and safety in your area is correct and being checked correctly by your sections and areas are clean on a daily basis. Health and Safety meaning the areas in and out must be kept to company standards and the warehouse is secure at the end of the evening shift and building is locked and alarmed before leaving by the nominated employee.
  • You are required to submit any holiday forms or sick forms to your direct line manager, if any staff member is sick with the correct documentation and ensure this is submitted to your line manager within the company guidelines.
  • You must ensure if any member of your team is on holiday or sick your areas are covered and managed correctly, and all worked is covered and all deadlines are being met still to company requirements.
  • Job requirements / job sheets / packed shipments must be followed and cannot be left till next day of processing and all areas of the section must be cleared daily and exported unless there is a customer deadline on the paperwork submitted when to export.
  • Overseeing all areas, goods in and out, Bulk Clients, courier, sections; e-comm bulk packing and freight and courier suppliers when other supervisor is off and during shift time start and finish cover and ensure deadlines are being met and goods are being sent and being sent correctly with QC random checks being carried out.
  • To ensure all clients information is supplied to accounts / customer services within the timelines given and with the correct information for billing purposes.
  • Checking and monitoring each of your areas to ensure your team is covering all aspects of the work, and ensure all deadlines are met and work is being sent correctly without any delays. Making sure all staff members are performing their duties and to company standards and with no company mistakes for Company or the client.
  • To ensure you’re trained in all areas within your section to deal with any emergencies if and when required to help in the busy times and to cover if needed. The company requires all its supervisors to know each area of their sections to enable no client delays in emergencies.
  • Checking and organising work where and needed on a daily basis.
  • All your areas of clean and tidy each day before all staff leave in and out the building.
  • Making sure each member of your team is trained in all areas of your section so they can all cover each other whilst on holiday.
  • Dealing with suppliers on a daily basis and dealing with any problematic issues that arise and liaise with accounts and customer services departments.
  • Ensure staff is arriving on time, monitoring their performances, and ensuring the sections are always covered during break and lunches and managed properly.
  • Ensuring when the Team leader of your section is off this is covered by yourself or supervisor to ensure all areas are managed and goods sent on time and correctly and organising staff different shift times if needed.
  • Ensure all equipment which falls under your section is kept and checked correctly.
  • Dealing with disciplinary matters with your Direct Manager & HR support, ensuring this is fully followed up by the correct procedure as and when required.
  • Dealing with any supplier issues and resolving
  • Ensuring agency time sheets are being completed correctly.
  • Ensuring all end of day drivers are taking couriers to agent drop off’s and dealing with any outstanding queries the drivers may have.
  • Ensuring every area, you over see the decks are cleared and all orders gone and ensuring staff are used to be moved and help within your section and improving the stock areas and pre planning.
  • Ensuring HS of all racking/ equipment and staff are being followed correctly.
  • Dealing with faculty equipment used for your area of machinery with the supplier directly and making bookings as and when needed.
  • Implementing new procedures

  • KEY RESULTS AREASThis position will be monitored on the following key results areas
  • Time management of daily responsibilities.
  • Time keeping this will be flexible depending on the running of the section.
  • Ability to deal with client account requests from customer services and providing information and supplier requests
  • Working as part as a team and managing your team correctly, ensuring all members of staff is carrying out their duties correctly and on time.
  • Knowledge and understanding of your section, implementing procedures in your areas to make processes better.
  • Be able to work under pressure and manage and ensure all your areas are covered and no shipment is failed or left till the next day, and that all items are
  • Dispatched in the correct timescales.
  • Monitoring their performance and progress on an ongoing basis.
  • Communicating with Suppliers/Customer Services and departments.
  • Briefing team leaders on the issues for that particular day;
  • ensuring the health, safety, cleanliness, Fire and security of the work environment.
  • Overseeing the planned maintenance machinery and equipment.
  • Working hours are Monday - Friday (Flexibility required)
