Job Description

Freightserve are looking to recruit a Freight Operations Shift Manager. The company are a well established Freight company based in the Colnbrook area.Job Description-To ensure the operations is running smoothly, shipments are processed on time to meet airline and agent cut offs. Being responsible for the overall security management of company including.Operations Processes:-

  • Liaise with other departments to solve problem shipments
  • To organize and monitor communications between different sections in warehouse with Team Leaders
  • Arrange collections and deliveries to airlines and from our customers
  • Monitor warehouse operations
  • Monitor X-ray process to make material known for airlines
  • Operating IT-systems - as required
  • Organise workload during the shift and report back to management
  • Customer Service:-
  • Answering and returning customer emails and calls in a timely manner and to agreed standards.
  • Be polite and always respond positively to customers/colleagues.
  • Investigating missing, late and damaged parcels with analysing CCTV footage
  • Documentation/Administration:-
  • Make sure drivers run sheets are complete
  • Check airline paperwork is correct before lodging
  • Ensure end of day reports are completed and submitted
  • Compliance/Health and Safety:-
  • Ensure team members receive the communication and instructions needed to act in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to health and safety policy, and other requirements relating to care of equipment.
  • Ensuring work areas and warehouse are kept clean, neat and well-organised.
  • Monitor and enforce that H&S policies are followed and report any non-conformance.
  • Carry out daily checks as instructed.
  • Security management responsibilities:-
  • Develop and implement security policies, protocols and procedures
  • Attend meetings with other managers to determine operational needs
  • Coordinate procedures with regards to security protocols
  • Review reports on incidents and breaches, investigate and resolve issues
  • Create and supervise staff vetting procedure
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities
  • Line management duties:-
  • Arrange holiday cover
  • Manage staff rotas
  • Enforce and monitor DFT rules and regulations
  • Complete return to work interviews, performance reviews, take part in investigations and disciplinaries
  • Carry out training and mentoring
  • Check staff have adequate training to complete their tasks
  • Monitor staff attendance, report over sickness and lateness issues to management
  • Person Specification:-
  • Must have the professionalism to perform and organise work to suit the business and customer needs.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team and have the confidence to work on their own initiative.
  • Must have a 5 year checkable work history with no unaccountable gaps.
  • Must have previous experience in a similar role.
  • Basic Criminal Record Check
  • Skills:-
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise as well as focus on the detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Strong analytical skills to be able to resolve queries and suggest solutions
  • Knowledge of security, health & safety requirements of a warehouse operation
  • Excellent customer service skills
