Job Description

The role of Operational Compliance Manager will involve, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and improving compliance, processes and procedures at operational level.
  • Creating and coordinating proper reporting channels for compliance issues.
  • Identifying and resolving customs control issues and constraints.
  • Examining and improving auditing processes to prevent compliance issues or resolve them.
  • Performing regular audits and reviews to ensure execution of compliance standards.
  • Assisting in the design and implementation of company processes.
  • Supporting operational teams as necessary, to ensure the best possible client experience.
  • Representing the company by demonstrating high levels of customer service and a professional attitude at all times.
  • Undertaking additional duties, or assisting other members of staff, as may be reasonably requested.
The knowledge, skills and experience required from our Operational Compliance Manager is:Essential
  • Excellent knowledge of customs legislation with related procedures and documents.
  • Proven experience in a compliance role.
  • Experience of managing a team.
  • Good knowledge of legal requirements and procedures.
  • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Have a good knowledge of the English language, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise own workload to tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills: The ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • A team player: working closely with all operational departments and clients.
  • Sound knowledge of IT - Word, Excel and Outlook as a minimum.
Desirable
  • Experience of transporting valuable goods.
  • Experience of using Boxtop and/or eCustoms.
  • Knowledge of the local area and London.
Due to the nature of the role, there are also a number of compulsory checks that must be carried out:
  1. A criminal record check - basic disclosure, carried out by the Disclosure & Barring Service.
  2. A full 5 year reference history, with any gaps in employment scrutinised and accounted for.
  3. A driving licence check.
