Job Description

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop as the company grows.Supported by third party IT vendor, this role will provide first and some second line maintenance as the initial contact for MBS users system and hardware support needs.Day to Day, there will be a level of on premise first and second line maintenance, system administration and project management of technology based solutions to provide support to business processes. The position is office based providing first and some second line support across multiple locations. All IT support will be for internal staff, with the need to manage business systems remotely as well as at their location.A knowledge of SharePoint automation and similar systems will be of benefit.Role Specification

  • Provide 1st and some 2nd line technical support and advice for approved hardware and software (on premise and cloud hosted) for all office and warehouse based staff
  • Set up of new IT hardware on the network, installation of software and enrolment
  • Install and Manage Microsoft Client Operating Systems
  • Install/Setup Network Printers & Wireless Devices
  • Strong understanding of Setup/Maintaining Mobile Devices
  • Knowledge of IP telephone systems is an advantage
  • To triage and prioritise support tasks and action appropriately
  • A strong knowledge of Microsoft environments and have proficient problem-solving skills
  • Experience of supporting/troubleshooting Office 365 and managing Office 365 Admin
  • Centre, including creating and managing users, groups and services
  • Using and Maintaining Active Directory, including security groups, user on and off boarding
  • Administration of SharePoint online; managing groups, security, permissions and sites
  • Some administration knowledge of Windows server, SQL server 2012, Windows networking troubleshooting including Firewalls, DNS, DHCP & TCP/IP
  • First point of call for printer and warehouse hand scanner hardware
  • Ensure Backup systems are operating and be the point of call for recovery
  • Assist with the scoping and sourcing of third-party services to support the IT hardware and systems
  • Where working with third party service suppliers, ensure issues are handled in line with agreed SLAs
  • Management of Software License’s; ensuring most cost-effective usage by business
  • Prepare programme for preventative maintenance and software upgrades, at minimal disruption to business
  • Ensure security and privacy of networks and IT systems
  • Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment
  • This role will also allow getting involved and running specific IT project work as needed by the business
  • Completing another other tasks that may be required from time to time
  • Keep up to date with the best IT practices and industry knowledge

  • Proven experience as IT Technician or relevant position
  • Good interpersonal skills to provide a friendly and supportive service
  • Previous experience of working as part of an IT team offering a similar service
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem solving skills, comfortable working independently
  • Excellent communication ability and customer service skills are essential with confident telephone manor
  • Outstanding organisational and time-management skills, able to manage ever changing priorities
  • The ability to work to tight timescales
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm for technical challenges
  • A strong desire to learn and explore new areas of technology
  • Patient mind for troubleshooting under pressure
  • Able to follow processes
  • In depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks
  • Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
  • Certification as IT Technician will be an advantage
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills
  • Full clean driving license, able to drive to other locations as and when needed
