Job Description

About the RoleAs an ICT team we are driving to be more digitally focussed, using the latest technologies, whilst ensuring that our customers are at the heart of everything we do. Innovation, design, and implementing systems that deliver real business value are fundamentalto achieving this.The IT Systems DevOps team are responsible for maintaining and improving infrastructure, environments, applications and services both on premise and in the cloud (Azure). Evaluating new and emerging technologies, delivering technical projects/solutions andmaintaining platform and application stacks supporting the Newcastle Strategic Solutions client base are key functions of the team.We have a fantastic opportunity for a DevOps/Platform Engineer to join the team to work alongside platform specialists, developers, testers and project teams. Responsible for maintaining and ensuring resilience/availability of all infrastructure, environments,applications and services that form part of the CI/CD pipeline for those products and services. Application releases will be a significant part of the role so you will need to ensure new features are promoted through the CI/CD pipeline appropriately to allenvironments whilst maintaining availability and accuracy. IaC and automation should also be used where possible to improve efficiencies and ensure consistency across environments.About YouYoull have skills/knowledge covering the below areas:

  • Azure skills and experience - specifically around AKS, Front Door, Application Gateways, App Services, Storage Containers, Virtual Networks, Load Balancers, Network Security Groups and Key Vault.
  • IaC automation experience preferably using Terraform.
  • CI/CD tooling experience preferably using Azure DevOps, GIT, Octopus Deploy and TFS.
  • A solid understanding of general networking (including TCP/IP, networking/security, switches/routing, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/encryption, load balancing and SSH).
  • Strong scripting skills in one or more scripting languages including PowerShell.
  • A successful track record of working in a dynamic and collaborative enterprise ICT team, supporting customer critical application stacks and delivering projects to demanding timescales.
  • A good understanding of change and risk management within a complex operational environment.
  • A desire to learn and self-develop as we want you to continually improve.
  • An excellent communicator who can dynamically manage their own workload with strong analytical/problem solving skills with the ability to work at pace making clear well thought out decisions.
