Job Description

Health & Safety and Facilities Coordinator Up to £33,000 depending on experienceWorking hours, Monday - Thursday 8.30am - 5.00pm, and Friday 8.30am - 12.30pm (36 hour work week)We are recruiting for a Health & Safety / Facilities Coordinator position with our manufacturing client based in Coatbridge who are looking for someone to drive Health & Safety culture within a safe and well-functioning work environment.In addition to H&S you will oversee all building and infrastructure-related activities, ensuring that facilities are safe and well-functioning as well as meeting all legislative requirements for Health and Safety compliance. You will be a well-organisedperson and able to optimise the use of space and equipment whilst also reducing operating costs and identifying efficiencies to management where possible.Your duties as Health & Safety / Facilities Co-ordinator will include:

  • Health, safety and environmental ownership including monitoring of current and ongoing legislation
  • Supporting annual H&S and ISO Quality audits and, if required, assisting with customer audits
  • Working with departments to coordinate the safety effort to reduce the risk of accidents and to prevent re-occurrence whilst promoting a Zero Harm culture
  • Assisting with investigations into accidents and incidents to identify causes and make inputs to prevent reoccurrence
  • Monitoring and training of processes, systems and employees throughout the site
  • Conducting and reviewing health and safety risk assessments for work equipment, manual handling, ART and COSHH
  • Carry out monitoring for compliance with completed assessments and adherence to published SSoW
  • Management of Energy usage and provision of ongoing energy efficiency initiatives
  • Identification of ongoing H&S training to assist with your own role as well as the specific training for onsite staff
  • Emergency preparedness management including first aid management, provision of additional emergency support staff including fire wardens
  • Ensure standards are maintained and deadlines are achieved to ensure Statutory and legal compliance for the site
  • Coordinating any regular and ah-hoc maintenance works with contractors and the Operations and Site Leader to ensure minimal disruption to production
  • Managing sub-contractors on site to ensure all work is carried out effectively and efficiently whilst conforming to HSE requirements at all times
  • Carrying out post audits of sub-contractors work including monthly reviews for main contractors
  • Ensuring the upkeep of all relevant logbooks; fire safety, intruder alarm, smoke alarms, etc.
  • Manage activities in the external area including hazardous waste disposal / recycling / pest control and general landscaping
  • Creation and maintenance of PPM schedule for FM and H&S activities for staff and sub-contractors
Applicant Requirements:
  • Relevant job role experience in the manufacturing industry
  • IOSH Managing safely qualification
  • L8 Legionella awareness relevant qualification
  • A good standard of written and oral communication skills
  • Desire to undertake further training as well as maintain relevant training for the role
  • Computer and systems literate including Excel, Word and Microsoft Teams
  • Team player with positive attitude to ownership
  • COSHH Awareness
  • Work Equipment experience including knowledge of required statutory inspections
  • Nebosh General certificate (desirable) with willingness to potentially work towards upon completion of probation if not held
