Job Description

We are looking for a Financial Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team. This is a temporary role on a 9-month maternity contract, with the possibility to be extended for a further 3 months, (so in total a potential of a 12month FTC). This is an exciting opportunity to join Finance team build and expand on your current finance career.Primarily assisting and working together with the other financial accounts assistant, but with a view to supporting our other teams.Previous finance experience is essential, as are excellent communication skills and attention to detail. We are looking for a self-starter who remains calm under pressure and can manage a busy and varied workload. Your primary focus will be to support all aspects of general accounting and finance within the Financial Accountancy Team to contribute to the achievement of financial objectives.You will also be required to have Cross departmental interaction with key personnel across the company, i.e. Purchasing, Sales, Logistics, FP&A. You will need to be able to maintain good relationships and contact with all Company, National and Regional Sales Directors and ensure External Auditors are dealt with in a professional manner. High levels of detail and accuracy are needed in order to complete your role to the best of your ability. High levels of confidentiality are a must as you will be dealing with highly sensitive data daily.Key responsibilities;

  • Process and complete all aspects of general accounting for Antalis Ltd up to trial balance level ensuring all statutory, local tax and legal requirements are met.
  • Complete month end responsibilities to ensure the integrity and completeness of the month end accounts. This includes all accruals, prepayments and provision, including completing the month end balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Process monthly overhead invoices and accurately allocate costs across the business (travel, fuel, i-expenses, phones, car leasing, insurance, and property and fork trucks) Review costs to budget and investigate variances. Allocate monthly cost across all businesses for rent, rates, cross charges to Paris, P11d, PSA, WPA and PHI costs and reconcile balance sheet control accounts.
  • Resolve Antalis Ltd Profit and Loss queries to the satisfaction of all levels of management.
  • Support forecasting and budgeting process for Logistics, Ireland and Blaydon. Liaise with Logistics managers to support them with financial accounting issues. Support Financial Accountant in preparing balance sheet forecasting.
  • Administrate and support month end accruals process for Logistics, Ireland and Blaydon. Complete administration of Logistics 3rd party invoicing. Complete the month end accounting for the RPCs.
  • Input and maintain entries onto the fixed assets register and complete related accounting requirements to comply with reporting and statutory requirements for Ireland.
  • Support Financial Accountant to prepare and reconcile key reports to ensure all UK and Ireland transactions comply with VAT regulations. Submit Monthly intrastat returns for UK and Ireland entities. Submit Malta/UK/Ireland/ Hungarian VAT returns.
  • Manage PMS month end reconciliation and reporting closing/process, and provide profitability reporting for management review and agreement, and load PMS results into Oracle.
  • Assist the Treasury Manager with monthly debt and cash reporting, uploading payment runs, authorising templates and supporting uploading the cash planner.
  • Brexit related tasks to administrate new reports and ensure duty, shipping and transport charges are correctly allocated and maintained.

  • Knowledge of Financial Accounting (General Ledger).
  • Numerical skills alongside a solid understanding of invoice processing and account reconciliations.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Up to date knowledge of statutory and tax legislation advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word and Email.
  • Professional telephone manner.
  • Studying for a professional qualification (part qualified).
  • Minimum of 1-2 years experience in a Financial/Management accounting role.
  • Ability to work using your own initiative as well as being a team player.
