  • Job Title: Laboratory Assistant
  • Job Type: Permanent
  • Hours: 35 hours per week (7-day shift pattern and/or weekend work is likely to be required during busy times)
  • Job Location: Glasgow
  • Remuneration: As Laboratory Assistant, you’ll receive a salary of between £16,000- £20,000 per annum, depending on experience level, plus you’ll benefit from a 10% performance bonus private health cover after 1 years’ service, a contributory pension scheme and life cover.
    • As Laboratory Assistant you’ll be responsible for assisting the departmental and laboratory managers in ensuring that all Virology laboratories are in compliance with the relevant cleaning, housekeeping and general standard operating procedures. Youll also provide general laboratory support and assistance.Key Accountabilities;
  • Assist the departmental and laboratory managers in ensuring that laboratory areas are adequately resourced with respect to materials, reagents and consumables.
  • Prepare reagents in accordance with the relevant reagent protocols, ensuring all work is performed in compliance with GLP/GMP.
  • Facilitate waste removal and autoclaving procedures.
  • You’ll ensure that all work is performed in accordance with relevant health and safety procedures and that all risk assessments relevant to the work being performed (COSHH, GMO etc) are read and understood prior to undertaking work.
    • QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you’ll need previous experience working in a laboratory or high sterile environment.In addition to the above you’ll also need to demonstrate the following;
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience using Microsoft word and outlook
    • The following attributes would be desirable, but not essential;
  • Experience of working in a GLP/GMP environment.
