Are you interested in an assistant role to work alongside our team of Clinical Perfusionists who provide adult cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), paediatric CPB, Extra corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) therapy, short term ventricular assist device (VADs) and Long term VADs as an integral part of their roleWe are seeking a highly motivated individual for the role of a healthcare science support worker (HCSSW) with a responsibility for ensuring all the medical equipment used by the Clinical Perfusionists is placed through disinfection protocols. The successful candidate will also work closely with the Biomedical Scientists to ensure all of the equipment is routinely water and air sampled in order to ensure all clinical perfusion medical equipment meets the strict requirements for clinical use. Maintaining and updating records will be an essential component of this role.This post will also assist in the management of the day to day stock control of all the consumables throughout the Clinical Perfusion Service, working closely with the surgical team to ensure all essential items are readily available for each clinical procedure.The West of Scotland Clinical Perfusion service provides support to both the Golden Jubilee National Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. There is an annual workload of around 1400 adult cases, including cardiac transplantation and complex adult congenital specialties. In addition there are around 300 neonate/paediatric cardiac surgical CPB procedures each year. There are busy neonatal, paediatric and adult ECMO services across the two sites and a busy short term VAD service at GJNH. Although this post will work across both hospital sites, this post will be predominantly assigned to the Royal hospital for Children site.You must be a motivated, committed and flexible working team player. Previous experience within a medical/scientific area would be advantageous.
