Job Description

Our client, a well-known Public Sector organisation based in Clydebank, require a Maintenance Electrician on a temporary basis. Working 12 hour shifts - 3 days on and 3 days off rotating between day and night shifts. Basic pay is £13.35 per hour with unsociablehours and weekend uplifts to £17.36 or £21.36 per hour.A PVG for working with both adults and children will be required for this role.Main purpose of role:To assist in the provision of a comprehensive multi-site installation, maintenance and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) service and to maximise the efficiency and quality of the mechanical, electrical and environmental services of the organisation.Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Ascertain desired action using acquired skills and abilities to expedite best solution for a desired outcome and assist putting solutions into practice
  • Install and commission machinery using installation manuals to ensure safety and in compliance with health and safety, and statutory regulations that benefits and provides a safe environment for the user and patient care
  • Complete Planned Preventative Maintenance in accordance with organisational and manufacturers recommendations, using appropriate tools, test equipment, and recording details of work carried out within set time-scales, to prevent breakdown and maintain optimaloperational ability
  • Respond to breakdowns, evaluate the situation and take corrective action to ensure minimal disruption and damage
  • Test and monitor backup systems such as emergency electricity generators to ensure a continuity of service for patient care areas and all other departments
  • Participate in lift rescue, maintaining manufacturers safety standards to ensure quick and safe release of trapped individuals
  • Survey plant and equipment for, safety, soundness and establish maintenance to be undertaken
  • Be aware of Health and Safety requirements when undertaking all work to maintain a safe environment for staff and patients
  • Fault finding and analysis within complex systems/equipment in a safe, effective manner using fine tools and calibrated measuring equipment as required in order to minimise future breakdowns and keep hospital running efficiently
  • Maintain all Regulations in relation to SHTM 06-02, The Electrical Safety Code for Low Voltage Systems for Competent Persons, Wiring regulations BS 7671 Electrical 18th Edition to ensure a safe environment and to maintain good quality and safe electricalpower to patient care
  • Verify integrity of wiring systems utilising calibrated test equipment to maintain safe working environment within hospital sites
  • In depth effective use of BMS (Building Management System) computer to set parameters and record data on a wide range of building services
  • Investigate, research and plan upgrades and developments to meet changing requirements of health care
Key Skills and Requirements:
  • Recognised apprenticeship
  • Qualified to Higher Nation Certificate or equivalent level with extensive experience
  • City and Guilds Qualification in the IEE 18th Edition Electrical Regulations
  • Certified specialist training in Building Management Systems computerised control system
  • Trained in SHTM06 Low Voltage Systems (will be provided)
  • Trained in SHTM03 Ventilation Systems (will be provided)
  • Awareness of Legionella (will be provided)
  • COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)
  • Mathematical calculations in respect of electrical systems and processes
  • Confined Spaces training
  • Fire Safety/Training
  • Health & Safety Regulations/training
  • Manual Handling
  • Reading and interpretation of plans
  • Able to use own initiative
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Problem solving
  • Lifting and Handling, use of lifting equipment, chain blocks and slings
  • Emergency First Aid (will be provided)
