You will ensure that the Bank implements and maintains a strong and robust financial control environment, appropriately accounts for complex Treasury transactions and ensures the measurement and accounting for financial instruments is in accordance with IFRS.You will have responsibility for the maintenance of the Treasury Management System (TMS) Quantum from an accounting perspective, ensuring that the system is supported by adequate documentation, provide fit-for-purpose accounting information and MI, embedding the full functionality of the system within the team.The role will involve communication and explanation of monthly reported numbers directly to the Treasury and Financial Markets Team, with support from the Head of Funding - Finance, and must therefore be able to describe in simple and straightforward language the requirements and outcomes of technical accounting conceptsKey Accountabilities include activities around the following areasTechnical business partner to the Funding "front office" teams

  • Ensure the control environment is maintained and continues to evolve as Aldermore grows
  • Provide guidance and support on the accounting treatment for funding transactions, including secured funding, articulating the accounting requirements for wider Treasury / Finance teams,
  • Translate the accounting results into understandable MI to facilitate decision making,
  • Collaboratively work with Treasury teams to ensure common understanding and best use of common systems, primarily Quantum and QRM, supporting ongoing upgrades / developments.
    • Financial & Management Accounts
  • Ownership of TMS Quantum & Savings platforms maintenance from accounting perspective
  • Provide technical support to the Banks hedge accounting strategy and process / system
  • Support daily Treasury operations, reviewing derivatives accounting (including FX derivatives)
  • Support the production of technical accounting papers on Treasury and Savings when required
  • Produce and / or review the financial control attestations for Treasury and Savings
    • Controllership
  • Ensure integrity of financials from source systems
  • Gain an understanding of operational processes and advise financial control advancements
  • Review and update SOPs accordingly
    • Audit
  • Assist and provide external auditors with supporting documents/schedules
  • Assist in providing financial disclosures to group finance
    • Experience Required
  • 2 years PQE - ACA or ACCA
  • Good solid experience in Banking and Treasury
  • Experience in hedge accounting, both portfolio and micro and the application of relevant accounting standards
  • Good understanding of Treasury and Savings products and ability to assess the impact from regulatory, capital, tax and statutory point of view.
  • Experienced use of Treasury systems, ideally Quantum and QRM.
  • Solid understanding of robust controls environment,
  • Proactive self-starter who can successfully operate in a changing environment
