Job Description

Senior Commercial ManagerOur new Senior Commercial Manager enters at an incredible time for the business; we have our FCA license, a fully functioning app and with funding secured, a compelling and realistic plan of action.The founding team is in place. But with so many Tetris bricks falling, we need the help of a digitally savvy, nimble and outrageously organised Pricing Manager to keep us in shape and our plans on track.We are on a quest to be the worlds most proactive bank. We improve lives by providing better clarity, intelligence and technology to empower every individual in making the smartest financial decisions. Starting out with a debit account and credit card,we are broadening our portfolio and setting the foundations in place for a positive, supportive and thoughtful new bank. We are launching with a fully functional offering and exciting forecasts. Our product is developing with incredible pace; we are now atthe point where we must backfill the missing processes and functions that we overlooked in the drive to launch.The role of Senior Commercial ManagerThis role is a key hire, responsible for driving Good Customer Outcomes, Regulatory compliance, credit card management and credit card product development in line with the profitable growth targets set for the business. It does this by considering the fullrange of customers (and target customers).The role will lead the Commercial team working closely with the broader team to drive clear recommendations on how to manage and grow the business in a profitable and customer centric manner. It will take a wide perspective of the business, working withmultiple departments across the company, supporting a collaborative approach to forming recommendations and decision making. This role will report into the CEO.In your day-to-day role, as a Senior Commercial Manager you will:

  • Leading Cards Product Management team in activities and projects that drive the credit card P&L, budget and KPIs through development of the card product.
  • Developing and evolving strategy and enhancing the Cards product.
  • Ensuring that the credit card products are designed, developed, and managed to embrace the customer needs and good customer outcomes (GCOs) set by the business and meet the requirements of the regulator.
  • Gathering and analysing sufficient range of internal and external reference points/data and benchmarks to identify opportunities and benefits.
  • Identifying and making recommendations and business cases for changes to the card products for both new and existing customers.
  • Playing a key role in the end-to-end product development lifecycle, ensuring VBL has a suite of products that supports new business (NB) card acquisition commercial strategy.
  • Managing the delivery of product initiatives across the business and acting as a key representative/Subject Matter Expert on projects where Commercial/Product expertise is required
What you will bring to the team as Senior Commercial Manager:
  • Experience of working in a team focused on management of a Credit card/Lending P&L
  • Awareness and understanding of the commercial and customer levers and trade-offs.
  • An understanding of product development and how to collate and manage data to support building products that meet customer needs.
  • Able to manage multiple activities and drive own workload to deliver business performance and projects on time
  • Able to shape the business thinking and strategy in this core part of the business.
  • Drive customer and commercial KPIs to deliver and/or exceed the planned balanced scorecard for the business.
  • Able to resolve complex business problems in a logical and persuasive way for the good of the customer and business.
