The candidate will be responsible for coordinating the peer review process for applications, serving as the secretariat for the review committee, and orchestrating the review committeemeeting scheduled for May 21-23, 2024.Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for drafting the comprehensive meeting report.Furthermore, the role encompasses providing outstanding secretariat and governance support for esteemed scientific and advisory committees.This dynamic position offers a unique opportunity for the candidate to contribute significantly to the organisations impactful scientific and advisory processes.Role: Research Programmes OfficerSalary/rate: £17.78 - £19.78 per hourWorking arrangements: Hybrid workingLocation: LondonEmployment type: Full Time Temporary (scope to go permanent)Working hours: Monday to FridayRef: 80877SOHCLOSING DATE: Tuesday 5pmMain responsibilities of the role include:Grant Management:

  • Primary point of contact for long-term programme principal investigators.
  • Timely response to program-related queries, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Lead the scientific quinquennial review, managing project plans, peer review, and site visits.
  • Write and present reports to the Committee.
  • Support patient and public involvement in long-term programmes.
Research Governance and Committee Management:
  • Provide operational and secretariat support to key committees and expert review committees.
  • Key contact for committee members, particularly patient representatives.
  • Manage agendas, meeting logistics, and prepare papers, reports, and quality committee minutes.
  • Collate and provide regular updates to committee members on research and charitable activities.
General Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate records of team and project expenditure.
  • Ensure positive experiences for contributors providing lay and scientific advice.
  • Adhere to organisational policies and procedures.
Please note* The candidate MUST be committed to the following dates 21st-23rd May 2024The successful candidate:The ideal candidate for this role should hold a degree in a pertinent scientific discipline or possess equivalent experience. Proficiency in organising peer reviews, coupled with the ability to adeptly operate databases, is crucial. The successful candidatemust demonstrate a capacity to work independently, showcasing strong skills in prioritising and coordinating projects of significant complexity. This role demands a candidate who can navigate intricate tasks with precision and efficiency, contributing to theseamless execution of critical responsibilities.In addition, the preferred candidate will ideally possess a background in a relevant scientific discipline. A crucial aspect of this role involves collaborating with and providing support to high-level scientific committees, underscoring the significanceof experience in such contexts. The successful candidate should also demonstrate a track record of effectively engaging with senior stakeholders, including senior management teams or heads of department.
