Our work ranges from helping the Firm leverage the latest legal, client and market knowledgeto providing front-line support for legal teams in their client work.The Knowledge function is closely aligned with the Firms Business Development and Marketing team under leadership of the Chief Marketing Officer. It comprises of three teams: Professional Support, Research and Information Systems and Practice Technology.Our professionals use information management, research, legal and technical training solutions to help our lawyers work efficiently and collaboratively for the benefit of our clients.Position SummaryProfessional Support Legal Assistant (PSLA) assisting and reporting to the practice PSLs (the "PSLs") and the Director of Professional Support. Assigned primarily to the central PSLA team but providing some dedicated support to the Corporate M&A and theFinancial Restrcuturing and Insovency (FRI) Practice Group (the "Group").Duties and Accountabilities

  • Provide support in respect of training programmes run by the Group especially facilitating participation by fee earners in sessions in a more global training programme (including ensuring the smooth running of sessions on the day, tracking attendance inconjunction with the central People Development team, liaising with other offices to set up video conference links and reminding speakers in advance of sessions);
  • Draft and assist with editing contributions to the monthly practice group current awareness bulletins;
  • Assist in the maintenance and update of practice notes,standard forms, databases and trackers;
  • Conduct research on legal developments or new areas of law relevant to the PSLs;
  • Provide direct support to individual practitioners to assist them with locating practice-related internal and external knowledge resources;
  • Maintain the knowledge-related aspects of the PSLss resources on Connect (Firms Intranet);
  • Support the updating and maintenance of English Law Standard Forms and Practice Notes;
  • Participate in regular meetings of the Professional Support function and Knowledge Department and liaise with other PSLs/PSLAs to facilitate the sharing of best practice and knowledge;
  • Assist in the implementation of wider Marketing, Business Development and Knowledge Department and Professional Support initiatives and provide other project support to the PSLs as may be assigned by the Director of Professional Support.
Essential Job Requirements:
  • Prior experience in a knowledge management/professional support team would be highly desirable but is not necessary
  • High professional standards
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent drafting and research skills
  • Well-developed organisational and communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with people at all levels
  • Pragmatic, self-motivated, flexible and able to work both in team and individually as required
  • Willingness to take on additional tasks as and when required
  • Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office, ideally experience of iManage/document management systems
Qualifications
  • Degree educated, preferably LLB, plus LPC/SQE.
  • Highly desirable to have working knowledge of Corporate M&A and FRI (or equivalent) but is not necessary.
  • Highly desirable to have secured a future training contract at another firm.
