Job Description

Our client is an independently owned UK life company providing investment administration platform services to institutional pension schemes. Their award-winning investment platform is complemented by a range of investment services that includes a wide universeof funds for investment and end-to-end investment administration services, including on-boarding services, unit dealing and valuation, portfolio restructures and rebalancing, fund governance, creation of blended and white-labelled funds, trigger monitoring,and scheme reporting. Working closely with clients, they create tailored investment solutions to fit their unique requirements.Due to significant growth in the past five years, assets under administration now total c£20.0bn and they are on the cusp of further exciting expansion. To help them achieve their plans, they are currently seeking a Technical Lead to support and strengthentheir Operations teams knowledge and to help create a competency framework. The Technical Lead will act as an expert point of referral and problem solve complex and material issues, often liaising with Clients and Partners to do so.This is a key, senior-level role within the Business, and although without direct line reports, the Technical Lead will help build and shape the future of the Business at an exciting time.A varied and challenging role, key tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Oversight of the delivery of fund and capital events within the teams
  • To act as a technical referral point for all teams across Operations, with regard to investment administration and query handling at the most complex level
  • To own and manage the investigation and remedial actions for complex incidents and embed lessons learned within the Business
  • To work with the Business Change Team and Technology team, to develop and analyse reports to inform decision making and complex problem solving
  • Work with the Investment, Change and Distribution Teams to develop, contribute to and agree operational processes and system requirements for complex onboarding of funds and new schemes or fund / capital events
  • Keep the Business appraised of upcoming market, and technology developments and trends, developing plans to align with and leverage relevant changes
  • To oversee and co-develop technical learning materials and assisting in their delivery
The successful applicant will have around 8 - 10 experience in Investment Operations, ideally from a Life Company or Investment Platform Business. In addition, they will be/have:
  • An expert understanding of Investment Operations and Asset Management which must include non-standard (or specialist) processing
  • Experience of applying industry best practice or solutions to increase efficiency, reduce risk and enhance customer service
  • A robust understanding of regulatory requirements and extensive understanding of risk management, legal and compliance issues.
  • A Member of the CISI and holder of the Investment Operations Certificate. Holder of CFA qualification is highly beneficial
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues and strong analytical / reporting skills
  • Strong technical knowledge of unit-linked pricing principles and practices
  • Solid relationships with advisors and investment consultants
  • Able to chair and organise committee meetings, producing quality board or committee papers
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills - able to communicate well across all organisational levels, upwards and downwards. A genuine team-player
  • Strategic thinker and ability to see the "big picture"
In return, the company offers a basic salary of £90,000 to £110,000 plus a generous benefits package.
