Job Description

New opportunity with a leading underwriter who are currently seeking an Interim Technical Accounting Manager. The role sits within the Finance Department, focusing on partnering the business to enhance decision making with a focus on business planning, analysisand reporting, as well as ensuring that all financial reporting requirements (statutory, regulatory, tax, capital, etc.) are fulfilled.Key responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Support the reporting framework across the Group, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulatory reporting requirements and developments, particularly UK GAAP, US GAAP, IFRS, Lloyds and Solvency II.
  • This will include keeping up to date with accounting standards, regulatory reporting requirements and developments, conducting impact analyses, briefing stakeholders and implementing plans as appropriate.
  • Responsible for performing technical reviews of all statutory & regulatory reporting including: Annual Reports & Accounts, Solvency II Returns, Lloyds returns, US and Canadian Trust Returns, NAIC Returns, etc.
  • Lead Group reportings compliance with Group technical accounting and reporting policies including the maintenance of these policies.
  • Act as the primary contact for Finance on Finance projects and change initiatives, drawing on the wider knowledge and resources of the team as necessary/ appropriate, including the development and implementation of the new accounting and reporting processesrequired for IFRS 17.
  • Responsible for the production of technical accounting papers including accounting papers to evaluate financial reporting requirements and impacts of significant transactions.
  • Responsible for preparing and reviewing Board and Audit Committee papers working closely with the Financial Controllers, the Head of Finance and the Group Chief Financial Officer.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statement disclosures in times of high seasonal demand or in areas with increased complexity.
  • Assist with journal entries on complex transactions and consult and assist with preparation of statutory and regulatory disclosures
  • Support the other Finance teams with the drafting and review of any new accounting policies or updates of existing policies
  • Provide quarterly training to the business and functional areas
  • Review and support the drafting of responses to Regulators comments / queries as well as any communications with the Regulators.
  • Deal with any queries with Auditors on technical accounting and regulatory matters.
  • Support the Head of Finance with the co-ordinating and documentation of Finance Controls.
  • Support the Head of Group Reporting and the Head of Finance with the implementation of continuous improvements of accounting close process including recommending controls required
To be successful in this role, you will need to be/have:
  • Fully ACA/ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent) qualified
  • Deep technical knowledge and Understanding of UK GAAP, Lloyds and Solvency II reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Analytical approach to work with strong interrogation and reconciliation skills.
  • Ability to work with large and complex data sets in a variety of formats.
