Job Description

Insurance Accountant required by one of the Lloyds markets most dynamic and ambitious syndicate businesssThis is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and technically competent Qualified Accountant to join the finance team on their journey as they bring the financial processing, accounting and reporting functions in-house. You will become part of a small team, and assume a broad and varied role with the opportunity to be involved with a wide range of activities across all areas of finance. The role will report into the Syndicate Finance Manager youll be encouraged to develop and learn additional skills and knowledge to support your role and career as you develop alongside the function and indeed the business.Typical activities will include:

  • Preparation and reconciliation of monthly technical journals - Gross and RI; premiums, commissions and claims, including IBNR
  • Liaise with business teams on data quality issues ensuring timely resolution
  • Ownership of assigned balance sheet reconciliations (technical) including LCA, debtors and creditors including timely investigation and resolution of variances
  • Responsibility for daily FX rates as well as uploading to systems
  • Assist with the monthly accruals and prepayments journals and subsequent reconciliations
  • Inter Company reconciliations and ensuring timely settlement of balances
  • Support the accurate and timely monthly financial close process in line with finance timetable
  • Assist with the delivery of internal management reporting in a timely and accurate manner including internal management accounts and consolidated group accounts
  • Assist in the delivery of external reporting including reporting to Lloyds and other regulatory authorities
The successful candidate must have sound knowledge and experience of the Insurance industry, you will be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/ACMA)
