Job Description

In-House Legal Counsel12m FTC £55,000 - £58,000Victoriahybrid working My client, a nationally recognised trade representative, are looking for a qualified Solicitor or Barrister with at least one years post qualification experience within a commercial, private practice or in-house environment. The successful candidate must have experience with commercial contracts, terms and conditions and IP.This role is a 12 month fixed term contract initially, with the potential to go permanentThe Role:

  • Managing the process and undertaking the drafting/negotiating/approving data contracts with external suppliers or customers, in accordance with instructions
  • At the request of the Business Development Manager or General Counsel, to include direct contact with existing or potential customers to resolve contract issues arising
  • To work in close collaboration with the data team to ensure timely progress on resolving and closing legal issues arising, especially issues concerning the sale of data under licence
  • Addressing any contentious issues (whether contract/negotiation/licence) or disputes which may arise and summarising the recommended course of action, where appropriate to the General Counsel for further instruction
  • Liaise and negotiate with all relevant parties (internal and external) as required on data projects
  • Researching and advising on legal matters, for example new or forthcoming legislation relevant to the data business
  • Supporting the provision of regulatory updates, circulars and information for members
Essential requirements:
  • UK qualified solicitor or barrister
  • Experience: ideally one/two years post-qualification commercial experience, in-house or in private practice, familiar with commercial pressures;
  • A positive and enthusiastic manner;
  • Demonstrable commercial awareness
  • Ability to communicate and argue confidently, fluently, precisely and concisely, orally and on paper
  • Ability to analyse, to organise, to plan, to research, to think critically, logically and constructively
  • A reliable, highly organised individual, with an eye for detail;
