Job Description

Leading data backup and storage managed service provider requires a Commvault Backup Engineer to act as Service Delivery Lead for a number of key clients.The successful candidate will have a strong operational background as well as excellent technical and troubleshooting skills and communications skills. The role requires a solid understanding of cloud technologies, virtualisation and storage integration.Based in Central London with periodic visits to clients and datacentres mainly in the London region should be expected.Responsibilities:

  • Technical lead and escalation point
  • Draft service review materials and present at periodic client service review meetings
  • Operational backup administration duties to include troubleshooting, monitoring of system health, performance tuning and capacity management
  • React and respond to day-to-day incidents and changes related to backup administration, including disk space, data backup and restore, disaster recovery and backup failures
  • Problem analysis and decision making to remediate backup issues
  • Perform problem / change management
  • Manage daily backup status reports to ensure SLAs are met
  • Monitor backup processes and errors to ensure overall system performance and stability. Monitor daily backup operations to ensure systems are available for data and disaster recovery
  • Participate in out of hours on call rota
  • Assist with the pre-sales function (attend meetings, design input)
  • Work with project teams to onboard new clients
  • Ensuring documentation is complete and up to date
  • Contribute to improving client service, internal processes and systems
    • Skills and ExperienceMANDATORY:
  • Graduate with min 2 years’ experience in a larger SME or enterprise environment
  • Highly skilled Certified Commvault Professional
  • Experience of configuring and managing backup solutions for public cloud
  • Experience of backup for Office365 using Commvault
  • Experience configuring, managing and troubleshooting Commvault Virtual Server Agent, Intellisnap, replication (Live Sync etc)
  • Experience configuring, managing and troubleshooting Commvault SQL Server, Oracle, Exchange and Archiving iData agents
  • Strong presentation and documentation skills
  • Windows system administration skills
  • Hardware troubleshooting on Windows and Linux based systems
    • DESIRABLE:
  • Experience of other backup products (Symantec NBU, Backup Exec, EMC Networker, IBM TSM, HP Data Protector, Veeam, Evault, Asigra, Arcserve)
  • Solution design experience
